The Best of Youtube - Music

Recommended Posts

JP was the man, he certainly left his mark on a generation of music lovers.

the late John Peel (love him or hate him, his coverage was certainly diverse) and it's a shame the role he played hasn't really been filled as BBC programming seems now to avoid multi-genre eclectic DJs.

Liking that. I guess on reflection tracks like that would have been overlooked as most eyes were on what was being heavily promoted coming out of the U.S at that time, producers such as Arthur Baker and Jellybean were producing some absolute floor fillers. The only DJ with National coverage in the UK I guess that would have played such stuff would have been the late John Peel (love him or hate him, his coverage was certainly diverse) and it's a shame the role he played hasn't really been filled as BBC programming seems now to avoid multi-genre eclectic DJs.

Agree with that - I first heard Orbital, Underworld and Oasis through John Peel's evening session. A great man that gave many bands their big break including Joy Division (which gives me a shameless opportunity to post some more New Order!)

Time for some Leftfield

John Lydon with probably the best thing he ever did

One of those tunes I never tire of listening to

Chant of a poor man

Always be careful of things from the "Leftfield" - lol

This one is VERY special to me, remember the Renaissance CD's where if my memory recalls I think Digweed mixed up about 3 versions of it.

Pioneers of Dance music without doubt.

I saw Sasha and Digweed for New Years Eve in Melbourne (2001), they were excellent. I thoroughly recommend a New Years Eve in a warm country if you get the chance!

Seen them both a good few years back, this one is an absolute classic.

...............and yes a warm new years eve would indeed be a pleasant experience. Did you ever hear the Carl Cox set on the Millennium? he played Sydney and Hawaii on the "same day" jumping over the date line. Nothing better than evening in the company of the worlds best DJ

Cheers for that. I have heard the original but not that mix.

Dont know if anyone else is the same, but I associate music with certain points in my life and Leftfield is always linked to a particular crazy old bird i was seeing at the time. I escaped with my sanity and she is long gone..........but I still like to listen to the music every now and then! :D

I'll refrain from posting any more plump videos for fear of "hogging" the thread. there are far too many to choose from.

I think I might just buy the pot with this next one... :D

Sorry for changing the pace, I've spent the last 3 hours flicking through my music and I had to post Korgis when I found it.

Time to "quicken it back up" 90's junglist style - lol - I know it's a predictable choice, but both are classics in my humble opinion.

......... and just to give you a feel for whats going on in the "blue room" at the moment, the funny thing is that i've got a couple of litres of "Janets Jungle Juice" (Cider) from Somerset right next to me as i'm typing this. Theres even a chance i might be "swinging on vines" later this evening. ;)

I love human traffic, great film and fond memories.

OK, since your last post I've been shifting through my music collection again, even to the point where I went trawling through boxes in the garage to find some old tunes. I have to say I can't listen to most of it now, dance music hasn't aged well... but I will still tip my hat to a few classics.
