liquid
Picked up an acia berry smoothie at borough market today which came in a biodegradeable plastic cup. Looked liked a normal plastic cup. The stall seller admitted it was five times as much to produce a non biodegradeable plastic cup, so his markup takes this into account. I guess the question is will demand make it more economical to produce? Time will tell. Here's a firm that produces the stuff. http://www.symphonyplastics.com/ Symobol: SYM:L

They only biodegrade when exposed to the elements, kept in a drawer they last for years.

I assume you mean if you keep them in a plastic bag?

I assume you mean if you keep them in a plastic bag? No need to keep them in a plastic bag. Had rolls of them in a drawer for a few years, no sign of deterioration. Have bagged up leaf mould in them and left them outside, seems to take a couple of seasons before they disintegrate.
liquid
Here's another company that is more green than energy, but I hope it's interesting: http://www.straight.co.uk/index.html I quite like their compost bags. The children love shoving leftovers and stale food into the bags. I've also bought some shares in the firm, again for the benefit of the kids.
