Biden responds to Ocasio-Cortez criticism: 'Tell her to check' my record

Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) on Tuesday pushed back against criticism of his forthcoming climate plan by progressives who have characterized it as a "middle ground" approach to addressing global warming.

“You never heard me say middle of the road. I’ve never been middle of the road on the environment,” Biden told reporters in New Hampshire. "Tell her to check the statement that I made and look at my record."

"I don't think she was talking about me," Biden added.

His office did not immediately respond to an inquiry about which statement of his he was referencing.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) criticized Biden’s forthcoming climate plan last week and again at a Monday night rally in support of the Green New Deal.

"This is a dealbreaker. There is no 'middle ground' w/ climate denial & delay," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted last week.

"There is no 'middle ground' when it comes to climate policy," Sanders tweeted. "If we don't commit to fully transforming our energy system away from fossil fuels, we will doom future generations. Fighting climate change must be our priority, whether fossil fuel billionaires like it or not."

At Monday’s rally, Ocasio-Cortez took again took aim at a "middle of the road" approach but did not mention Biden by name.

SLEEPY = Solid Frontrunner so far

Slow & Sleepy wins the Race?  (we will see)

Biden rejecting Dem anger in call for national unity...

Wind at his back...

Black Voters Gravitating...

Bernie mystery Soviet tapes revealed...

Philadelphia (AFP) - As the one true known quantity in the Democratic nomination race, former vice president Joe Biden sits atop the pack of 2020 presidential contenders, relishing the prime position as he hosts a kickoff rally Saturday.

No one knows whether the man who served as number two to popular Democratic president Barack Obama for eight years will run away with this contest -- his third White House bid in as many decades -- or fade out in the months-long test of political skill and stamina to come.

But the former longtime senator and lion of the Democratic Party is gearing up for what is certain to be a titanic battle against President Donald Trump.

After a month of modest events at union halls and pizza joints in early-voting states like Iowa, Biden is counting on making a splash at a rally in Philadelphia, the largest city in must-win Pennsylvania, a state Trump snatched from Democrats in 2016.

He has made Philadelphia his campaign headquarters, in a further sign of the importance he is placing on winning back the state for his party in 2020.

His kickoff will be held near the Philadelphia art museum steps immortalized by the scrappy boxer's run in the movie "Rocky."

Biden was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and the rally is a nod to his modest roots.

But far from being the underdog, Biden is looking to cement his status as the man to beat, the blue-collar voter whisperer who is best positioned to take on and defeat Trump.

And while his delayed entry into the race drew criticism that he might not be ready to mount a thoroughly energized campaign, the slow-and-steady strategy appears to be paying off.

By setting his own terms, limiting media engagements and minimizing chances for going off-script, the gaffe-prone Biden is emphasizing his status as preeminent party dignitary.

Polls give Biden, 76, a comfortable lead over the 22 other hopefuls.

The latest RealClearPolitics aggregate puts him at 39.1 percent support, more than double the 16.4 percent of his nearest rival, liberal Senator Bernie Sanders.

No one else is in double digits.

. . .

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — His party may be enraged by Donald Trump’s presidency, but Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden insisted Saturday that Democrats will not defeat the Republican president if they pick an angry nominee.

Facing thousands of voters in his native Pennsylvania for the second time as a 2020 contender, the former vice president offered a call for bipartisan unity that seemed far more aimed at a general election audience than the fiery Democratic activists most active in the presidential primary process. He acknowledged, however, that some believe Democrats should nominate a candidate who can tap into their party’s anti-Trump anger.

NASTY WOMEN asked...

Chris Matthews to Kamala Harris: ‘Is Biden Finished After Tonight?’

Thursday on MSNBC’s post-Democratic presidential candidates’ debate coverage, “Hardball” anchor Chris Matthews asked Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) if former vice president Joe Biden was “finished” in the Democratic primary after she tussled with him tonight.

Partial transcript as follows:

MATTHEWS: Last question, senator. apparently you drew blood tonight from the Biden campaign. They put out a statement after your back and forth with the vice president. they said you’re doing exactly what Trump wants. your reaction?

HARRIS: I certainly do not think that speaking truth about the history of segregation in our country is that, So I disagree obviously.

MATTHEWS: Is Biden finished after tonight?

HARRIS: No, I don’t think so.

MATTHEWS: in your eyes?

HARRIS: No, I don’t think so. listen, Vice President Biden has had a long career of dedicated public service, and he has done great things in his career, and I think he should be given credit for those things and for that work and for his dedication. I don’t think anyone can question his reason for doing what he does.I do believe that he cares about people, and he loves our country. So I don’t think he’s done, fix his problem that was raised tonight by you? can he fix it?

Joy Reid: Kamala Harris Is Now a Front-Runner

Thursday while commenting on the MSNBC Democratic candidates’ debate, network host Joy Reid declared Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) became the front-runner in the Democratic primary tonight.

Reid said, “I think the one person who gave us that very clear picture of what it would look like for them to go up against Donald Trump head to head was Kamala Harris. She had the strategy, and one of the few who went after Joe Biden head on She destabilized him on the race question. He didn’t seem to know how to answer. And she took on Donald Trump directly including back to Biden, a bank shot off of Barack Obama, which is like hearsay in the Democratic Party. She did a bank shot off Barack Obama’s deportation policy to hit that man, Joe Biden, on immigration. That was brave, and it went very well for her.”

How surprising: Human garbage (Joy Reid) supporting human garbage (Kamala.)

There are some great black women, but these two are not among them,

SLIDING JOE "Leading" from the Pack

Nolte: Polls Show Biden Plummeting to Third Place Nationally and In Iowa

Nolte: Polls Show Biden Plummeting to Third Place Nationally and In Iowa

Former Vice President Creepy Joe Biden has collapsed to third place in Iowa and nationally, according to two polls.

Just a few days prior to last week’s debate, a national Change Research poll showed Biden leading the pack among his fellow 2020 Democrat presidential hopefuls with 24 percent support. Socialist Sanders and Cherokee Warren were not far behind with 22 percent.

But in a poll of 1,185 Democrat primary voters taken post-debate — between June 28 and July 1 — this same pollster now shows Biden has collapsed to third place nationally, with just 18 percent support. Warren is in first place with 22 percent and Kamala “The Buser” Harris is in second with 21 percent.

Crazy Bernie is right behind Slow Joe with 17 percent support, and mean Little Mayor Pete Buttigieg sits in fifth place with just ten percent support.

Fake Hispanic O’Rourke is tied with — LMAO — Andrew Yang at two percent.

What is undoubtedly the most important number from this poll is the Harris surge….

When asked who most impressed them at the debates, 69 percent chose Harris, 56 percent chose Warren, and Biden came in last place with just 15 percent. That put him behind Buttigieg (32 percent), Julián Castro (24 percent), and Sanders (23 percent).

Poor Joe.

When asked about the least impressive debate performance, Biden came in second (23 percent), behind only Oprah’s weirdo, Marianne Williamson (33 percent).

In Iowa, a crucially important state, the first where actual votes will be taken in early February of next year, one poll has Hair-Sniffer dropping to third.
