Border Crisis. Trump's Art of the Stalemate to get the Wall

DISGUSTING

Chuck and Nancy Take Disgustingly Smug Victory Lap After Trump Caves on Partial Government Shutdown:

‘Hopefully, Now the President has Learned His Lesson’

“No one should ever underestimate Speaker [Pelosi], as Donald Trump has learned,” Schumer says, adding the president knew the shutdown was “a lost cause”

The topline for this is that the shutdown strategy has failed. Even if Trump signs an executive order, the fact remains that this was a option that was open a month ago. It makes no tactical sense to shut down the government, particularly Homeland Security, for a month and then do what you could have done without a shutdown.

The second point that I take from Pelosi’s self congratulation about her strength with her caucus and Schumer’s fawning over her is that the House Democrat caucus was very close to a revolt.

One thing you can take to the bank from this is that the Democrats will come away emboldened and more intransigent. Virtually everyone is going to see this as a huge climb-down for Trump and that is not a good combination for Trump.

Dan Crenshaw Backs Trump On Continuing Resolution,

Explains Why Democrats Are Backed Into A Corner

Scott Morefield | Reporter

Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw tweeted his support for President Donald Trump for doing what he “had to do” by promising to sign a continuing resolution to fund the government for three weeks even though border barrier funding was not secured.

The Texas congressman’s Friday tweet also came with the observation that Democrats will finally “be forced to debate border security” instead of focusing on the weeks-old partial government shutdown.

“Mr. President, you did what you had to do,” Crenshaw, who has consistently called for a border barrier, tweeted. “Now House Democrats will be forced to debate border security and not a shutdown. And I’ll be on Homeland Security Committee to do just that.”

The President is yet again compromising. The consistent Democrat talking point over the last few weeks has been this: “we don’t mind discussing physical barriers, we just can’t talk about it with the government shut down.”
I hope they meant it.

. . . To Crenshaw’s point, ending the shutdown before negotiating has been a key talking point of late for Democrats. Even California Rep. Katie Hill, who has expressed an interest in voting for some border barrier funding, insisted that President Trump “stop using federal workers’ lives as a political pawn” while calling for both sides to “go to the table” on the issue.

Collins: Lawmakers Will Agree to Barriers, ‘But Not to the Degree’ Trump Wants

She continued, “The best agreement that we can get is an agreement on border security, but an agreement to fund the federal government through the end of the fiscal year, which is September 30. No more short-term stopgap funding measures, and we cannot have the threat of a government shutdown hanging over our people and our economy.”

When asked about a wall, Collins said, “I think what will happen is the efforts to continue to build barriers, which have gone on in the last two administrations, will continue, but not to the degree that the president has requested. What we should do is ask the non-partisan experts and customs and border patrol, what are their biggest problems. It’s going to be a combination of physical barriers, technology, more border patrol agents, more immigration judges, more sensors. It’s got to be an all-of-the-above approach.”

Scott Adams: Democrats Once Again Winning the Game No One Was Playing

The only valid comparison to President Trump, is President Hillary
Would her border solution have been as good or better?
What would her solution have looked like?
80/20 Rule applies to our future border security solution
Improve the worst 20% and get 80% improvement
Dems are fighting the President, not a secure border
Everybody wants better border security
Lots of historical video shows Dems agree with the need
Dems just don’t want the credit to go to the President
President Trump’s border security strategy
He’s put ALL his political capital on the line for this
Result will be a substantial improvement

Even critics will agree solution is even better than his promise
Never underestimate Dems ability to shoot themselves in the foot
How do we improve healthcare, without it costing everyone a fortune?
Lowering healthcare cost is the key

STFU, Ann Coulter !

You DONT have Veto power & don't understand politics well enough

Ann Coulter steps up Trump tirade: 'The country would be run much better if I had a veto'

There's one thing President Trump can do to get Ann Coulter back in his corner.

Build the wall.

"Just keep your promise, and I'm right back in his camp," the outspoken proponent of the border barrier told HBO host Bill Maher.

The conservative author and commentator continued her sharp criticism of Trump's Friday move to end the 35-day partial federal government shutdown without securing the $5.7 billion in funding for a border wall in appearances on radio and TV, as well as on Twitter.

Though the president apparently unfollowed her on the social media service in December, she tweeted, "Break ground today.", in response to his tweet defending the end of the shutdown.

Martin Armstrong:

Government is Collapsing

It is interesting to watch how the press spins the fact that Trump has agreed to fund the government for three weeks. Our computer strangely was picking the week of February 11th the first week of January. I was wondering what possible event will surface for that target. Now we have it. How does the computer target such periods in time in advance? I have no idea. Perhaps Trump is simply under pressure and that is the maximum amount of time he could give the Democrats to compromise. It is fascinating. As I have always said, I am merely the observer. This is not something that can be forecast based upon personal opinion.

The left says Trump goes down in defeat to Pelosi. The left are praising Pelosi saying she is tougher than Trump. Some hard-line Republicans call Trump a wimp. Nevertheless, if I were in his position, I would have had done the same. But I would simply use the Terrorist powers of the Patriot Act to build the wall and claim that Terrorists can enter the country by flying into Central or South America to avoid the airports and the cross the border on foot even with a small tactical nuclear weapon that would fit in the base of a vending machine. That would be end of story.

. . .

So if the wall is worthless, why did they vote for it before? Because it was not a campaign issue in 2006? This is no longer about running the country. This is just degenerated into party politics proving the government can no longer be governed in the best interest of the people.

Congress-Poll-Least-Trusted.jpg

Statista has actually confirmed our entire basis of the Economic Confidence Model. The LEASTtrusted profession today is now members of Congress. What the Democrats have done is to now completely undermined the government. Whatever tactic they employ against Trump, will now be the rules of engagement when they are on Top and the Republicans will opposed everything and anything they do. After the disgusting hearings on Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination, if anything can be made up to disgrace any nomination, so many people I have spoken with have ruled out ever seeking any position in government to help. That was a game changer. There is no possible way to prevent this spiral collapse in the confidence of government as we head into 2032.

Isn't it THE TRUTH !

I wouldnt say so. although not "untrue".

Anywhere and everywhere the "open border" movement is mostly about sourcing cheap slave labour and keeping wages low. Donors who push such policies through the choice of right wing parties are indifferent to which way immigrants vote after they arrive.

its why left wingers also tend to be nationalists, and why right wingers hate nationalism (but still sing about american patriotism while outsourcing all the jobs to china and india).

The CRITICAL ISSUE - For Trump & for America

Poll: Trump voters will mutiny if the wall isn't built, faces 43 percent drop in support

President Trump’s base of supporters remains on his side and even supportive of his temporary deal with Democrats to end the partial government shutdown, but are warning the White House that they will mutiny if the border wall isn’t built.

In a new poll of 2,700 Trump voters, nearly half would abandon him if “he fails to secure border security funds,” said a new survey by Ear to the Ground, a project by The Frontier Lab.

“The grassroots activists represented in this survey were fundamental to the president’s election. While they are still with him today, it appears the president better build the wall or his support will significantly suffer,” said Mark Meckler, president of Citizens for Self-Governance.

“Politicians have a habit of not listening. Hopefully the president will keep his ear to the ground,” added Meckler.

Shock poll: Democratic swing districts back wall, Trump immigration offer

Voters in congressional districts that President Trump won in 2016 but flipped Democratic last November support his border wall and believe Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have accepted his immigration deal to end the partial government shutdown.

A poll of 10 representative districts, some of which Trump won by a big margin but then voted a Democrat into office in 2018, also found that a plurality approve of the president’s job performance, 49 percent to 48 percent.

The Public Opinion Strategies survey done for the Republican National Committee provided some hope for the president and GOP messaging on the border wall.

What’s more, the survey provided to Secrets found that voters in districts in New York, Minnesota, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Maine, Virginia and New Jersey believe that Trump’s immigration compromise dismissed by Pelosi should have been accepted in the shutdown struggle.

Trump also "not thrilled". Let's see what the God Emperor does next

Trump Says “I Can’t Say I’m Thrilled” with Reported Border-Security Compromise

A border-security compromise bill is being floated in Congress that would include $1.375 billion for physical barriers at the U.S.-Mexico border, which President Trump doesn’t seem to think is enough.

“I can’t say I’m happy,” Trump said to reporters Tuesday. “I can’t say I’m thrilled.”

Trump is seeking over $5 billion to fund a border wall, something Democrats continue to oppose. The President is meeting with lawmakers to discuss the compromise plan to avoid another government shutdown scheduled for 11:59 PM Friday if an agreement can’t be reached.

TRUMP may have $8 Billion for the Border Wall

"Take THAT scummy-Rats!" (who will try to spin it as a Trump loss. We will see !)

TRUMP TO DECLARE BORDER EMERGENCY...
$8B FOR WALLS...
WILL SIGN BUDGET...
UPROAR FROM ALL SIDES... DEVELOPING...
'Catch and Release' expansion...

In a surprise development Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on the Senate floor that President Donald Trump told him he would sign a border security funding bill that would avert a government shutdown, but also would declare a national emergency in order to get more funding for his proposed border wall.

McConnell's announcement caught Capitol Hill off guard. The Senate then voted to overwhelmingly approve the measure 83-16, sending it to the House for a vote late Thursday. The House approved the measure 300-128.

ABC News has learned the president plans to announce on Friday his intention to spend about $8 billion on the border wall with a mix of spending from Congressional appropriations approved Thursday night, executive action and an emergency declaration.

A senior White House official familiar with the plan told ABC News that $1.375 billion would come from the spending bill Congress passed Thursday; $600 million would come from the Treasury Department's drug forfeiture fund; $2.5 billion would come from the Pentagon's drug interdiction program; and through an emergency declaration: $3.5 billion from the Pentagon's military construction budget.

Telemundo Changes Tune on Border Crisis

Barely a month ago, Telemundo and NBC anchor José Díaz-Balart was harrumphingly telling his viewers that President Trump was all wrong about there being an illegal immigration crisis on the U.S. southern border. But now the anchorman has been forced to eat his words.

The about face came after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security released new numbers showing that between October 1, 2018 and January 31, 2019 Border Patrol agents arrested over 200,000 people who entered the United States unlawfully, an 84% increase compared to the 109,000 arrests during the same period the previous year.

Upon reporting the latest statistics, Telemundo’s top anchorman even grudgingly admits that the crisis level of illegal border crossings “somehow highlights the immigration policies of President Donald Trump.”

nOCortex & Castro... may they die on the battlefield

Democrats Are Already Setting Out to Obstruct Just After Trump Announced National Emergency on Border

photomix-image-43-758x426.jpg?strip=all&

As President Donald Trump declared a national emergency to seek the desired funds for a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, self-described Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) mocked the emergency as “fake” and is already setting out to obstruct the president’s plans.

Ocasio-Cortez announced on Twitter she is teaming up with Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) to block President Trump’s national emergency.

“If President Trump declares a national emergency to fund his border wall, I’m prepared to introduce a resolution to terminate the President’s emergency declaration under 50 U.S.C. 1622. (National Emergencies Act),” Castro wrote in a statement on Thursday.

The Democrat’s statement continued to bash the president:

“President Trump would unconstitutionally usurp congressional authority by declaring an emergency based upon unfounded hype rather than any substantive emergency. Border crossings are lower than they have been in four decades. There are more law enforcement officers at the border—some stationed there simply to make good on politicians’ anti-immigrant rhetoric—than ever before. Further, such a baseless declaration by President Trump would set a dangerous precedent regarding the constitutional balance of powers between the executive and legislative branches.”

Ocasio-Cortez said she and Castro “aren’t going to let the President declare a fake national emergency without a fight.”
