FBI agent clashes with GOP at hearing on Russia probe

acfe1fd0-85f4-11e8-abb8-e926bf5391ee_Scr

WASHINGTON (AP) — An embattled FBI agent whose anti-Trump text messages exposed the Justice Department to claims of institutional bias vigorously defended himself Thursday at an extraordinary congressional hearing that devolved into shouting matches, finger-pointing and veiled references to personal transgressions.

Peter Strzok spoke publicly for the first time since being removed last year from special counsel Robert Mueller's team because of texts he traded with an FBI lawyer in the run-up to the 2016 presidential election. He insisted that he never allowed personal opinions to influence his work, though he did acknowledge being dismayed by Donald Trump's behavior during the campaign.

"At no time, in any of those texts, did those personal beliefs ever enter into the realm of any action I took," Strzok told lawmakers. (wow!  tell me another, Peter)

In a chaotic hearing that spanned 10 hours, he also said the FBI had solid basis to open an investigation into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign. He told lawmakers that he knew information during the campaign that could have damaged Trump but never contemplated leaking it. And he lamented that the continued scrutiny of him was "just another victory notch in Putin's belt."

In breaking his silence, Strzok came face-to-face with Republicans who argued that the texts tainted two hugely consequential FBI probes he had helped steer: inquiries into Hillary Clinton's email use and possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia.

"Agent Strzok had Hillary Clinton winning the White House before he finished investigating her," said Rep. Trey Gowdy, Republican chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. "Agent Strzok had Donald Trump impeached before he even started investigating him. That is bias."

FBI agent Peter Strzok's 'lies' are taken out of James Comey's playbook: James Kallstrom

FBI’s Peter Strzok is a good liar: Jim Kallstrom

Former FBI Assistant Director Jim Kallstrom discusses FBI official Peter Strzok’s testimony and why he needs to be fired.

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom told FOX Business that the "lies" perpetrated by FBI agent Peter Strzok are consistent with the lack of leadership exemplified by the agency’s former director, James Comey.

“He’s a liar. I mean he is a good liar,” Kallstrom said of Strzok during an interview on “The Evening Edit” on Thursday. “He’s a smart guy so he can lie with great proficiency.”

Strzok was grilled by members of Congress over allegations of apparent anti-Trump bias revealed in a series of text messages he exchanged with ex-FBI lawyer Lisa Page, with whom he was having an affair.

NOT COMPLETE RECORD

Peter Strzok: FBI Let Me Decide Which Texts I Thought Were ‘Relevant’ to Hand Over to IG

FBI agent Peter Strzok testified Thursday before the U.S. House that the Office of the Inspector General allowed him to decide which of his text messages with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page he would turn over to investigators — and which he would withhold.

The text messages are central to the question over whether the FBI was motivated by political bias in recommending against the prosecution of Hillary Clinton, and pursuing as-yet-unproven claims of Russian collusion with President Donald Trump.

In one text message, Strzok vowed to Page that the FBI would “stop” Trump from becoming president. Other text messages discussed impeaching Trump. On several occasions, Strzok disparaged Trump supporters.

Yet there may have been other texts.

Stroke admitted to House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) that he had not, in fact, turned over all of his text messages to the Inspector General, and that he had been allowed to determine which ones had “material that was relevant to FBI business”:

. . .

According to the New York Times, Strzok’s team had been chatting with its reporters about the investigation for six weeks or so before election day. In the paper’s pre-election article on the FBI’s investigation into alleged Trump-Russian collusion, it stated: “Intelligence officials have said in interviews over the last six weeks that apparent connections between some of Mr. Trump’s aides and Moscow originally compelled them to open a broad investigation into possible links between the Russian government and the Republican presidential candidate.”

So Strzok was talking to reporters, but he didn’t have anything damning to give them, owing to the baselessness and fruitlessness of his investigation. He is now trying to turn that into a virtue. But it wasn’t. He had started an improper investigation and was desperately trying to entrap Trump campaign members in an attempt to justify it. Had he found something, Strzok would have surely leaked it to the press before election day.

It is too bad the Republicans didn’t ask Strzok about his relationship with John Brennan, to whom Strzok served as FBI liaison. Did Strzok encourage Brennan to leak information about the investigation to Harry Reid before election day? The question wasn’t asked, but it should have been. The Brennan-Strzok relationship, which was nourished by an intense hatred of Trump, lies at the root of this scandal.

Who are they kidding? They did want to hurt candidate Trump. The problem was that they didn’t have any evidence of collusion to leak, a problem they tried to remedy by running a spy into the campaign’s ranks. They needed a late-campaign surprise, but their “confidential informant” Stefan Halper, for all of his oafish entrapment attempts, couldn’t produce one. Yet that still didn’t stop Brennan from getting Reid to push anti-Trump smears out to his friends in the press.

James Woods NAILS Strzok with this tweet

When your girlfriend is more important than your wife, your politics more important than your country,

and your ego more important than history,...

CONCLUSION from the above article

. . . The Strzok on display at the hearing was the same arrogant bureaucrat on display in the texts — an abusive, ruling-class jerk who still thinks he deserves a place on the Mueller probe. Making Mueller look like an ass and cementing his probe’s reputation as a partisan clown show, Strzok insisted that his removal from it had nothing to do with unprofessional behavior but with a mere “appearance” problem, one he blamed not on his own conduct but on Republicans “misinterpreting” his texts. This is chutzpah on a breathtaking scale, which would be inconceivable were the target of his blundering espionage anyone other than Trump. Strzok’s “insurance policy” against Trump had a provision for his career too. He would survive exposure by wrapping himself in the protective gauze of the anti-Trump resistance.

After Bailing on Subpoenaed Testimony, House Judiciary Chairman Threatens to Hold FBI Attorney Lisa Page in Contempt

Embattled FBI Attorney Lisa Page was expected to testify behind closed doors on Capitol Hill today, but failed to comply with a congressional subpoena by refusing to show up.

According to her attorney, Page wasn't given ample time to prepare for the hearing. She was expected to answer questions about her relationship with FBI Agent Peter Strzok and a series of text messages from 2016 about stopping Donald Trump from winning the White House.

"Through her actions and words, Lisa has made it abundantly clear that she will cooperate with this investigation. There is no basis for claims that Lisa has anything to hide or is unwilling to testify. The [House Judiciary and Oversight] Committees' bullying tactics here are unnecessary. We expect them to agree to another date so that Lisa can appear before the committees in the near future," Page's attorney, Amy Jeffrees released in a statement.

I wouldn't bet against Ms. Page having already done the due dilligence on those countries which do not have an extradition treaty with the US, and is off and running in a private jet to "Get out of Dodge."

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page said to be ‘cooperative’ during Capitol Hill meeting about anti-Trump texts

Republican lawmakers contend that former FBI lawyer Lisa Page provided new information during private testimony Friday that further convinces them political bias marred the investigations of Hillary Clinton’s emails and the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia.

Though they offered no specifics, several GOP congressmen characterized Page as “cooperative,” “forthcoming” and “transparent” during her interview with the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform committees. The closed-door session lasted nearly five hours and was expected to resume Monday afternoon.

They also said Page addressed questions that went unanswered during the public testimony Thursday of FBI agent Peter Strzok, who cited orders from the bureau not to disclose certain details about its work on the Clinton and Trump probes.

Page’s lawyer declined to respond to a request for comment.

Page and Strzok came to lawmakers’ attention because of anti-Trump text messages they exchanged while having a romantic affair, material uncovered by the Justice Department’s inspector general during an internal probe of the FBI’s handling of the Clinton email investigation. Both briefly served on special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigative team, which is focused on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and whether anyone associated with the Trump campaign aided those efforts.

Page’s answers “heightened my concern that the processes at the FBI were contrived to fit the desired outcomes of people who were biased in favor of Hillary Clinton and against Donald Trump,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said, emerging from Friday’s meeting.

Page also defended herself as unbiased, GOP lawmakers said — a characterization with which they did not agree. But they had mostly kind words after speaking with her for several hours: Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), who had been among Page’s harshest critics heading into the session, told reporters that “in ways, she’s been falsely accused about not being willing to cooperate.”

GOP lawmakers threatened to hold Page in contempt of Congress before she agreed to participate in the interview on Friday and tried to get her to appear alongside Strzok on Thursday. But after speaking with her, some said they doubted it would be necessary to subject her to a public hearing, provided the transcript of her closed-door interview would be released eventually.

10 Blatant Lies

strzoksmirk3.jpg

Award-Winning Investigative Reporter Sharyl Attkisson Exposes 10 Blatant LIES

Corrupt FBI Investigator Peter Strzok Wants Us to Believe

Here are ten things we learned from Peter Strzok’s testimony to Congress about his text messages and other actions:

1. Strzok’s hatred for Trump did not impact any of his professional actions or judgments. How do we know? Because he said so. And he would never lie — he assured us of that, too.

2. Strzok wrote that Loudoun County, Virginia, residents are “ignorant hillbillys [sic].” But we learned that Loudoun residents were wrong to take that as disparaging in any way. Strzok was simply partaking in good-natured banter involving the friendly competition between Loudoun and Fairfax County, Virginia, where Strzok lives.

3. Strzok said he could “smell” Trump supporters at a Wal-Mart store. But we learned what he meant was that he could “see” or “hear” Trump supporters at the Wal-Mart. In reality, Strzok totally respects and honors the “millions and millions and millions of Americans … who voted for Mr. Trump.”

4. Strzok wrote that he “loathed Congress.” But he didn’t mean that, either. It turns out he has “the utmost respect” for Congress.

5. Strzok wrote that he and unnamed others would join to “stop” Trump from ever getting elected. That might appear to be the definition of a conspiracy — or collusion — by a top FBI official to interfere in an election. But we learned Strzok has no memory of writing those words. And, in any event, the “we” referred to the American public —not to anybody in the FBI.

6. Strzok wrote of working with other top FBI officials to develop an “insurance policy” in case Trump were elected. But, again, we learned he would never really do such a thing.

7. Strzok wrote of the “impeachment” of Trump before he’d interviewed a single witness in the Russia probe. But we learned he didn’t prejudge anything.

8. We also learned a lot of important context that justified and recast Strzok’s messages. For example, when Strzok wrote that candidate “Trump is a disaster” and lamented how “destabilizing” a Trump presidency would be, it was after he heard Trump question whether the U.S. should honor its commitment to NATO. What top FBI official in his right mind wouldn’t fire off a message like that on his work phone? It was Trump’s fault for driving Strzok to write the words.

9. We learned that the authority responsible for sorting through Strzok’s personal accounts for additional relevant messages to turn over to Congress is — well, Strzok. And we learned that the number of messages he plans to hand over is exactly zero.

10. We learned from Strzok that all Americans are pretty much like him in terms of having deeply held political beliefs, so it’s not really possible or necessary to find more disconnected arbiters to lead the FBI’s sensitive investigations like the historic probes into 2016 presidential candidates. We learned that nobody at the FBI has ever allowed their personal beliefs to impact their job. It’s nothing more than coincidence that so many official FBI activities in which Strzok took part were very much in line with the vitriol he’d privately expressed against Trump.

Still, after all we learned, a modicum of confusion remains. If Strzok wrote so many things in private to his girlfriend that he now says didn’t really mean — what are we to believe now?

Trump-Hating FBI Adultress of Peter Strzok: The Text Messages ‘Mean Exactly What They Said’

Rep. Ratcliffe told Fox & Friends on Monday that there were discrepancies in what Peter Strzok testified to and what Lisa Page said during her closed door testimony. He described her as more forthcoming. One thing he said in particular is fairly big news.

Strzok denied the texts had meaning beyond letting off steam. Page, on the other hand, said they “mean exactly what they said.”

“There are differences in their testimony on many cases,” Ratcliffe said. “She admits that the text messages mean exactly what they say, as opposed to Agent Strzok, who thinks that we have all misinterpreted his own words on any text message that might be negative.”

She also clearly stated that she is a Democrat.

Rep. John Ratcliffe: Lisa Page’s Testimony Has ‘Significant Differences’ from Strzok’s on ‘Important Material Facts’

“I think there are significant differences between their testimony about important material facts,” Ratcliffe said.

“I think she has been as forthcoming as she can. I think she is trying to respect the real privileges that exist from her former employer, and she is getting direction from FBI counsel about not answering certain things and she is trying to respect that. At the same time, I think she is trying to give us as much information as she’s allowed to do, which I think is a distinction and difference from what we saw with Peter Strzok.”

Page’s testimony not only provides new information, but also raises important questions that require further investigation, Rep. Ratcliffe said:

“She gave us a lot of new information that we didn’t have before. That will lead us to ask for some more people to make some more requests for information we do not yet have.”

MORE STRZOK BIAS revealed

EXPOSED: Peter Strzok Grew Up In Iran, Worked As Obama and Brennan’s Envoy To Iranian Regime

The truth is that after Peter Strzok III turned 18 his life is arcane, which is the usual story of many like him. Did you know that Peter Strzok II (Strzok’s father) and Hillary Clinton have a lot in common? It turns out after advocating for Khomeni in Iran and then working in Saudi Arabia to calm the waters of an Iranian government (appeasing them with anti-Semitic rhetoric), Strzok’s father Strzok II also dabbled in “charity work.” Strzok’s father was involved in so-called charity work in Haiti but also helped dismantle and reassemble Upper Volta..now known as Burkina Faso.

Despite Deep State efforts to scrub information, the Internet is forever. Below you will see a very controversial happening in the early Eighties. Peter Strzok II (Strzok’s father, also known as Peter Strzok Sr.) was an employee of Catholic Relief Services and was interviewed by the New York Times in 1985 over his testimony or statements regarding mishandling money intended for Ethopia.

Lisa Page Busts FBI Brass, Clinton Emails Went To China

Joint House committee hearings concerning Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, and their possible political bias that may have influenced the harassment of Donald Trump and his campaign has revealed interesting information.

During closed-door sessions in front of the house, she revealed reams of interesting information, much of it outing top FBI officials or accusing them of misconduct. Indeed, some of the information she provided suggests that there is an ongoing bureau-wide ‘criminal intelligence’ cover-up of the 33,000 missing emails from the Hillary Clinton server. It almost seems like Page is afraid of being the scapegoat left holding the bag, so she’s come clean before that can happen.

During questioning in front of the House, Lisa Page, who was involved in an affair with Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent Peter Strzok, tossed former director James Comey and deputy director Andrew McCabe, her former lover, Bill Priestap, and more under the bus, according to federal sources.
