The Fed's Racetrack: Gold (GLD) vs Stocks (SPY) : update :vs.CRB : GLD-hr : SPY-hr : GLD/SPYratio

SpOPGIl.gif

The Fed's money-printing has maintained confidence in markets - but the money has gone not only into stocks, but also into other areas. For many months, money flowed into commodities like Gold, pushing prices higher even faster than stocks, as the chart above shows. But since Gold's peak in Aug.2011, stocks have outperformed gold. Since then, these two assets have tended to trade counter-cyclically to each other.

Gold in EURO - very worthwhile to track

Short Term: tny_au_en_euoz_2.gif

Medium Term - 3 Years: Gold-inEUR

US Stocks: "SPX-in-Euros" .. SPX-to-EUR or SPY-to-FXE  .. update

Ratio - SPX/Euro has often moved in a nice clear channels

DrBubb's "Early Warning System"

Leading Ratio ... LQD:TLT-Weekly-3yrs : TLT-vsLQD : Copper : HG price : CU price : SPY-10/11 : SMH-6mos

I reckon that the LQD-to-TLT ratio should move in harmony with stocks, or maybe LEAD stock moves. If they are moving in different directions, then one should be cautious. (However, the value of this indicator has become suspect in recent years, after giving some false warnings.)

BITCOIN Knowledge Reboot for 2018

You won't be buying a cup of coffee with BTC anytime soon!

/ 1 /

Bitcoin pioneer, Roger Ver, does a great job here of explaining the basics of Bitcoins.

Did you know it costs about $10 to process a Bitcoin transaction,

but only 1 cent for Bitcoin cash? That's a huge difference

Bitcoin: How Does it Work? (Roger Ver Interview)

Bitcoin technology can change the way we vote & how we govern ourselves.

But not everyone thinks that way. If the governments gain control of the crypto markets (and why won't they?), it could lead to financial enslavement.

OUTLOOK 2018: Gold Market Sees Best Year Since 2010 ...

Silver & Gold Summit - Outlook Compilation -

While a 13% price gain is absolutely respectable, it is still dwarfed by 25% gains seen in U.S. equities, specifically the Dow Jones Industrial Average. At the same time, it is this strong risk-on environment that has been so prevalent throughout the year that makes the yearly gains in gold so impressive.

2017 began with gold under dramatic pressure, continuing to react to the presidential election held in November of last year. If you recall immediately following the results of last year’s presidential election gold traded $50 higher, trading to an intraday high of $1340, before it made a sharp reversal and sharply lower on the day. From November up until mid-December of 2016, gold prices lost over $200 in value to settle just above $1120 an ounce.

The initial rally which began mid-December of 2016 and continued until the end of February moved gold pricing from $1120 to $1260 per ounce.

Although the fundamentals are entirely different from the beginning of 2016, there are some real similarities in the way this market bottomed in mid-December and rallied from that price point. Based on historical data, a moderate rally in gold will take pricing roughly $100 higher, with a strong rally capable of adding between $160 to $200 in value.

. . .

In an interview with Kitco News, Gero said that he sees gold prices rising to $1,400 by the end of 2018.

Gero said that he is not surprised with gold’s year-end push as it is in line with his unofficial survey conducted during the International Precious Metals Institute (IPMI) conference in late-June. He shared his results with Kitco News, noting that the most bullish outlook was for prices to end the year at $1,950 an ounce, while the most bearish vote was for gold prices to fall to $1,010.

Wikileaks Drops Proof That NY Times Colluded With Hillary Clinton While She Was Secretary Of State

wikileaks-hillary-clinton-new-york-times-nyt-judicial-watch-weiner-laptop-collusion

AFTER THE NEW YORK TIMES ON SATURDAY PUBLISHED A STORY HEADLINED “REPUBLICAN ATTACKS ON MUELLER AND F.B.I. OPEN NEW RIFT IN G.O.P.,” WIKILEAKS COULDN’T STAND IT ANYMORE.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Wikileaks had enough of endless NYT attacks on the Trump administration this past weekend, and decided to drop a bomb on an actual collusion story. Not between Trump and Russia, but between the NY Times and the Clinton State Department. Yesterday, they dropped the proof of the relationship as well as the cover up. Next up, an investigation of the  collusion between Crooked Hillary and the FBI under Comey. Or maybe Wikileaks will  just release the information and save everyone the trouble. Either way, Hillary, the clock is ticking.

In a late-night post on Twitter, WikiLeaks revealed that a Times reporter used to feed State Department email updates of the stories the paper would be publishing DAYS before the stories appeared.

At the time, Hillary Clinton was the Secretary of State.

Gold ETFs Are Doing Something Worth Watching Here - Analysts

Kitco News

This past week, SPDR GLD (NYSE: GLD) – the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund – witnessed its longest positive streak on record after rising for eleven consecutive days before registering a decline on Wednesday.

SPDR GLD last stood at $125.31, down 0.12% on the day.

Geopolitical tensions related to North Korea and Iran were partly responsible for the current rally, according to Matt Maley, equity strategist at Miller Tabak.

But another significant factor was expectations surrounding the U.S. inflation.

“For the first time in a very long time, the expectation that inflation will become more pronounced in 2018 is also giving gold a bid,” Maley wrote in a CNBC post.

Maley cautioned readers that gold is looking “overbought,” but noted that “if gold and the GLD can break above their 2017 highs of $1,350 and $128, respectively, it would give them both a bullish ‘higher high’.”

Maley is not the only one to praise GLD’s recent activity. Boris Mikanikrezai, precious metals analyst at FastMarkets wrote in his recent blog post that 2018 is “set to be juicy,” adding that his “long GLD position is moving” and to “expect further strength in course of 2018.”

In the meantime, the gold miners ETFs are also looking positive, ETF Trends said in a post.

For example, the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDX), the largest exchange-traded fund dedicated to gold mining stocks, was up more than 11% in 2017 and the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDXJ) rose more than 8%.

“The bulk of the gains for GDX and GDXJ arrived in the fourth quarter, perhaps signaling that investors are comfortable betting the major gold miners funds will start 2018 on strong notes,” wrote Tom Lydon, president of Global Trends Investments and editor of ETFtrends.com.
