ServerGate: Comey Lies & Covers-up for Hillary / FBI collusion

Recommended Posts

President 'Considering Broad Shake-Up of Team'...

“The most hazardous duty in Washington these days is that of Trump surrogate because the president constantly undercuts the statements of his own people,” said David Axelrod, a communications and messaging adviser to President Barack Obama.

“You wind up looking like a liar or a fool, neither of which is particularly attractive.”

Over the past few days, Mr. Trump deployed his two top aides — his press secretary, Sean Spicer, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders, a top deputy — to deliver dubious or false information about his decision-making process.

He asked Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein to draft a letter documenting Mr. Comey’s shortcomings to leave the impression that it was Mr. Rosenstein’s judgment and not his own that led to the dismissal — an idea that was reinforced by Vice President Mike Pence, who was part of the small group of advisers who planned Mr. Comey’s ouster in near secrecy.

On Thursday, Mr. Trump himself vaporized every version of the Comey story his defenders, including Mr. Pence, had labored so earnestly to put forward. “I was going to fire Comey — my decision. There is no good time to do it, by the way,” Trump told the “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt. “I was going to fire regardless of the recommendation” made by Mr. Rosenstein, he said.

Few of Mr. Trump’s eruptions have had such a destructive effect on his administration or left such deep resentments among his scarred staff, according to Trump aides and surrogates. And the blowback from the Comey decision and the way it was handled have accelerated the discussions about possible changes in the White House.

Who is the Best & Worst Pick for FBI Head?, 1627

Cop, or Politician?

This guy thinks Ray Kelly would be a great choice

220px-Ray_Kelly_US_Commissioner_of_Custo

Police Commissioner of New York City In office
January 1, 2002 – December 31, 2013

Raymond Walter "Ray" Kelly (born September 4, 1941) was the longest serving Commissioner in the history of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the first person to hold the post for two non-consecutive tenures. According to its website, Kelly— a lifelong New Yorker—had spent 47 years in the NYPD, serving in 25 different commands and as Police Commissioner from 1992 to 1994 and again from 2002 until 2013. Kelly was the first person to rise from Police Cadet to Police Commissioner, holding all of the department's ranks, except for Three-Star Bureau Chief, Chief of Department, and Deputy Commissioner, having been promoted directly from Two-Star Chief to First Deputy Commissioner in 1990.After his handling of the World Trade Center bombing in 1993, he was mentioned for the first time as a possible candidate for FBI Director. After Kelly turned down the position, Louis Freeh was appointed.

Kelly was a Marine Corps Reserve Colonel, Director of Police under the United Nations Mission in Haiti, and an Interpol Vice President. During the Clinton administration, Kelly served as Treasury Department Under Secretary for Enforcement, as Customs Service Commissioner, and was in the running to become the first United States Ambassador to Vietnam, after President Bill Clinton extended full diplomatic relations to that country in 1995.[4]

In March 2011, New York Senator Chuck Schumer endorsed Kelly to become the next Director of the FBI,[5] and in July 2013, he endorsed Kelly to become Secretary of Homeland Security.

Gowdy took himself out of the running as FBI director here

And (interestingly) he defended Comey's behavior in the July press conference

Rep. Gowdy: We need to see the entire reported Comey memo

What classified info does Gowdy have, that might make him so forgiving of Comey?

He also criticized the NY Times reporting only a part of Comey's memo

Comey's Revenge: Leaks Memo To NYT Saying Trump Asked Him To End Flynn Investigation

Chaffetz Demands FBI Hand Over All Comey's Notes, Memos, & Recordings Related To Trump

Jason%20Chaffetz_2.jpg

"@GOPoversight is going to get the Comey memo, if it exists. I need to see it sooner rather than later. I have my subpoena pen ready."

Update: Jason Chaffetz office just released the letter sent to the FBI's Andrew McCabe demanding all Comey-Trump related memos...

Today, the New York Times reported former Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey memorialized the content of phone calls and meetings with the President in a series of internal memoranda. At least one such memorandum reportedly describes a conversation in which the President referenced the FBI investigation of former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and said to Comey, "I hope you can let this go."

According to the report, "Mr. Comey created similar memos — including some that are classified — about every phone call and meeting he had with the president." If true, these memoranda raise questions as to whether the President attempted to influence or impede the FBI's investigation as it relates to Lt. Gen. Flynn. xx

Updated June 7, 2017

President Donald Trump is tapping former Assistant Attorney General Chris Wray to serve as the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the president said in a tweet Wednesday morning.

Mr. Wray, a former senior Justice Department official who has since served as a white-collar defense lawyer, met with Mr. Trump late last month at the White House for an interview.

“I will be nominating Christopher A. Wray, a man of impeccable credentials, to be the new Director of the FBI,” Mr. Trump. “Details to follow.”

. . .

A graduate of Yale Law School, he was a lawyer at King & Spalding in Atlanta before joining the Justice Department. He returned to the firm as a partner in 2005.

Mr. Trump’s selection of a new FBI director comes one day before Mr. Comey is set to testify before a Senate panel, where he is expected to discuss the circumstances surrounding his firing.

Comey first concluded Clinton was 'grossly negligent' in email case...

c

Early Comey memo accused Clinton of gross negligence on emails

An early draft of former FBI Director James Comey’s statement closing out the Hillary Clinton email case accused the former secretary of State of having been "grossly negligent” in handling classified information, newly reported memos to Congress show.

The tough language was changed to the much softer accusation that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information when Comey announced in July 2016 there would be no charges against her.

The change is significant, since federal law states that gross negligence in handling the nation’s intelligence can be punished criminally with prison time or fines.

Hillary's Protector(s) inside the FBI - not just Comey

FBI agent (Strzok) dismissed from Mueller probe changed Comey's description of Clinton to 'extremely careless'

Washington (CNN)A former top counterintelligence expert at the FBI, now at the center of a political uproar for exchanging private messages that appeared to mock President Donald Trump, changed a key phrase in former FBI Director James Comey's description of how former secretary of state Hillary Clinton handled classified information, according to US officials familiar with the matter.

Electronic records show Peter Strzok, who led the investigation of Hillary Clinton's private email server as the No. 2 official in the counterintelligence division, changed Comey's earlier draft language describing Clinton's actions as "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," the source said.
The drafting process was a team effort, CNN is told, with a handful of people reviewing the language as edits were made, according to another US official familiar with the matter.
The shift from "grossly negligent" to "extremely careless," which may appear pedestrian at first glance, reflected a decision by the FBI that could have had potentially significant legal implications, as the federal law governing the mishandling of classified material establishes criminal penalties for "gross negligence."
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, raised questions over why the change was made after receiving documents from the FBI last month, but the identity of who was behind the edit has not been reported until now.
CNN has also learned that Strzok was the FBI official who signed the document officially opening an investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, according to sources familiar with the matter. As the No. 2 official in counterintelligence, Strzok was considered to be one of the bureau's top experts on Russia.
But the news of Strzok's direct role in the statement that ultimately cleared the former Democratic presidential candidate of criminal wrongdoing, now combined with the fact that he was dismissed from special counsel Robert Mueller's team after exchanging private messages with an FBI lawyer that could be seen as favoring Clinton politically, may give ammunition to those seeking ways to discredit Mueller's Russia investigation.

Tucker believed it was a fair investigation - and now it is "getting harder to believe it was not partisan"

What exactly did Stroch say? The FBI will not tell us.

"Not just infuriating, it is illegal"

"Nobody elected Peter Stroch to anything. You elected Congress. Stroch is giving the people the finger"

Key Questions : WHO paid for the Lying Dossier (FBI? Hillary?) - how was it Used ?

A former FBI special agent ripped President Trump's criticism of the intelligence community in an article published Saturday.

Frank Montoya, Jr. told Business Insider that the intelligence community is frustrated the president does not rail against Russia to the same degree he shares his criticism of the Justice Department and intelligence agencies.

"There is a lot of anger in the FBI (the entire intelligence community, for that matter) over how this president will say nary a negative word about the Russians, but will insult us every chance he gets," Montoya, Jr. said.

. . .

Trump last week tore into the FBI on Twitter, saying it was in tatters.

“After years of Comey, with the phony and dishonest Clinton investigation (and more), running the FBI, its reputation is in Tatters - worst in History!” Trump said, referencing former FBI Director James Comey, whom he fired in May.

“But fear not, we will bring it back to greatness.”

Judicial Watch President: "Forget Mueller," The Real Question Is "Do We Need To Shut Down The FBI?"

Echoing the thoughts that are undoubtedly running through the minds of many Americans following startling revelations of an "insurance policy" crafted by FBI agents Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok to prevent a Trump presidency at all costs (something we covered here: FBI Texts Reveal "Insurance Policy" To Prevent Trump Presidency), Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton appeared on Fox News last night to say it's time to move beyond discussing whether or not it's appropriate to shut down Special Counsel Mueller's investigation and move on to consider whether it's now time to consider shutting down the entire FBI after "it was turned into a KGB-type operation by the Obama administration?"

FIBBER McCabe grilled for 8 Hours

EXCLUSIVE: Congressional investigators tell Fox News that Tuesday’s seven-hour interrogation of Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe contained numerous conflicts with the testimony of previous witnesses, prompting the Republican majority staff of the House Intelligence Committee to decide to issue fresh subpoenas next week on Justice Department and FBI personnel.

While HPSCI staff would not confirm who will be summoned for testimony, all indications point to demoted DOJ official Bruce G. Ohr and FBI General Counsel James A. Baker, who accompanied McCabe, along with other lawyers, to Tuesday’s HPSCI session.

The issuance of a subpoena against the Justice Department’s top lawyer could provoke a new constitutional clash between the two branches, even worse than the months-long tug of war over documents and witnesses that has already led House Speaker Paul Ryan to accuse DOJ and FBI of “stonewalling” and HPSCI Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., to threaten contempt-of-Congress citations against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray.

“It’s hard to know who’s telling us the truth,” said one House investigator after McCabe’s questioning.

Devin Nunes Preparing Report On Clinton Corruption At FBI

This is gonna be good. Jason Chaffetz can't wait.

n a Thursday letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein obtained by Fox News, Nunes expressed frustration that information and witnesses subpoenaed by the committee in August related to the so-called Steele dossier had not yet been turned over. The salacious dossier includes unverified allegations about President Trump's connections with Russia that he has denied.

“Unfortunately, DOJ/FBI's intransigence with respect to the August 24 subpoenas is part of a broader pattern of behavior that can no longer be tolerated,” the California Republican wrote to Rosenstein.

Nunes demanded that all records – and available dates for witnesses to testify – be provided to the committee by Jan 3.

“As a result of the numerous delays and discrepancies that have hampered the process of subpoena compliance, the committee no longer credits the representations made by DOJ and/or the FBI regarding these matters,” Nunes said.
