Lemons are... Amazing / Adding Zest (and years?) to Life

Recommended Posts

People who try to persuade others, with a life threatening illness, to stop taking accepted medicine when they need it, and replace that with quack medicine are potentially serving a death sentence on those people.

People who say, ok, try the quack stuff if you like, but for fuck sake don't stop the accepted medicine while you’re at it, have the persons best interests at heart.

JF would say then: It is fine to kill them with drugs, so long as they are "accepted medicine"

It's great to finally see the mainstream media getting their hands dirty and showing people they don't need to put their health in someone elses hands. In my opinion modern medicine should not be taken long term for any chronic condition. They are foreign toxins to the body and therefore create long term stress and more reliance on medicines when they create further health problems. They only treat the symptoms since symptoms are rarely physical in nature. Take back your power people!

I believe Steve Jobs tried some alternative therapies to try and cure his pancreatic cancer, delaying surgery for 9 months I think it was. It may have been a decision that cost him his life.

excerpt from Economic Times;

"Steve Jobs had delayed his cancer surgery & tried many treatments

In his last years, Steven P Jobs veered from exotic diets to cutting-edge treatments as he fought the cancer that ultimately took his life, according to a biography to be published on Monday.

His early decision to put off surgery and rely instead on fruit juices, acupuncture, herbal remedies and other treatments - some of which he found on the Internet - infuriated and distressed his family, friends and physicians, the book says. From the time of his first diagnosis in October 2003, until he received surgery in July 2004, he kept his condition largely private - secret from Apple employees, executives and shareholders, who were misled."

Have you read the biography on Steve Jobs?

I have the book, and I have read it.

That is what was implied: that Jobs died of cancer from delaying treatments. But you need to look more carefully.

For example, consider the author, Walter Isaacson.

I happened to know him. He was a classmate of mine at Harvard, where I knew him reasonably well there.

He is a good writer, and was the former managing director of TIME magazine.

But he is hardly unbiased. If all you knew of him is that he appeared on THIS LIST,

what do you think his view would be towards mainstream medicine?

There are certainly other views on Jobs approach towards treating his cancer. Remember, the man was no fool.

No one here is telling you to replace mainstream cancer treatment with Lemons. But neither should we be telling you than pharmceuticals will cure whatever ails you. They are powerful, and sometimes dangerous medicine, and should be taken with great care, if at all - Whatever your doctor tells you. The notion that some doctors are handing out expensive pills to treat everything is very worrying. Consider the incentive structure in US medicine, and maybe elsewhere too:

Big Bucks, Big Pharma pulls back the curtain on the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical industry to expose the insidious ways that illness is used, manipulated, and in some instances created, for capital gain. Focusing on the industry's marketing practices, media scholars and health professionals help viewers understand the ways in which direct-to-consumer (DTC) pharmaceutical advertising glamorizes and normalizes the use of prescription medication, and works in tandem with promotion to doctors. Combined, these industry practices shape how both patients and doctors understand and relate to disease and treatment. Ultimately, Big Bucks, Big Pharma challenges us to ask important questions about the consequences of relying on a for-profit industry for our health and well-being.

http://wakeup-world.com/2013/04/08/liquid-zeolite-how-one-woman-beat-terminal-cancer-naturally/

In the summer between Canada and Mexico occurs one of the world’s largest migrations of one of the world’s most delicate creatures, the Monarch butterfly. The Monarch migrates 2000 miles, spanning the life cycle of four generations to continue on its legacy. And if we think about the Monarch’s journey and the many challenges it overcomes in such a fragile state, we can also see how this might directly relate to a person with cancer.

Having said this, when I first began unknowingly upon my journey with cancer, I would not have said that I believed that it would be possible to overcome without the benefits and help of modern science and medicine. I was a firm believer in all medicine had to offer, in taking Paracetamol for headaches, in going to the doctor’s when I was unwell, in scanning my body with immense amounts of radiation.

This article is written not to discredit modern day science or medicine but rather to demonstrate a tried and tested alternative to the pain and suffering that medically “accepted” cancer treatments can create.

Generally when people think about cancer, they automatically associate it with hair loss, sickness, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, death. Initially that was what I thought. Now when I think about cancer, I think about it as the body’s way of trying to fight the toxins that are built up over time in the only way it knows how; tumors, or cancer cells. It is almost like filling up a cup with water and looking away for a moment only to turn back to see the water overflowing into the sink. The same thing happens with cancer. We are filling our bodies with chemicals and toxins continuously knowingly or unknowingly, and are so distracted by other aspects of life that we glance away briefly only to be caught unawares when we suddenly find ourselves exceptionally ill.

This is how I was in late 2007 when I discovered I had a brain tumor at the age of 21. I was told I had little hope of living out the next three months and that I should start preparing accordingly. A physically fit person, I was shocked that this had occurred and went into survival mode, desperately wanting for things to be different. I had only been going out with my boyfriend for three months if that, and neither of us were quite ready or willing, or even able to deal with this shock discovery. Despite warnings from doctors, neurologist, neurosurgeons and other specialists, I made it clear that I wanted to live my life in those three months with as much joy and excitement as I could. So my boyfriend and I packed our bags and headed on a two month journey through South East Asia. Prior to leaving, we had investigated various alternative treatments for brain tumours and cancers and discovered a mineral compound Natural Cellular Defense Liquid Zeolite… which is the reason that I am still here today and able to tell my story.

In the first few weeks of our trip I was very sick, having numerous seizures a day, and a general malaise overcame me. My boyfriend encouraged me to take the liquid zeolite but I had already come to terms with my “fate” and just wanted to enjoy our last few months together. It wasn’t until our last week in South East Asia that I agreed – I had nothing to lose – and we started on the max dose of 15 drops 3 times daily.

The result was amazing.

Within 12 hours my seizures had stopped and after a couple of days I was a completely different person. I felt as though my body was freeing itself of all the negative energy it had stored over the years. We were able to have the most amazing end to our trip. Although I felt better when we arrived home, I didn’t get my hopes up. It wasn’t until after I had seen my neurologist and various specialists that the reports came back and my brain tumour had reduced significantly; by about 35%. The doctors were amazed and wanted to operate immediately, but I thought it wiser to continue on zeolite for a little while longer and see what happened.

I continued on zeolite for a couple more months before my next scan and to the surprise of my doctor I was cancer free with no sign of cancer cells at all. It’s now been 5 years with no sign of the tumor coming back, and I have been given the “all clear” by my doctor.

When I first heard about zeolite, I have to be honest I was a non-believer. But after seeing the results first-hand, I believe that there is so much more to offer than just the traditional methods of treating cancer.

It's impossible to know what Steve Jobs' outcome would have been if he hadn't opted for alternative therapies for so long. However time is a factor in cancer treatment and apparently by the time he was operated upon the cancer had spread from his pancreas. There's a good chance that had not happened at the point he chose to go the alternative therapy route. This isn't just the opinion of his biographer, his health issues are quite well documented.

Virtually no "mainstream" health practitioner would claim that modern medicine can cure all. I've only ever seen alternative medicine advocates make such claims for their Snake Oil du jour... in the real world even the most successful treatments fail from time to time. What modern medicine does though, provably, without any shadow of a doubt, is increase the probability that something can be cured. Some cancer treatments only increase the probability slightly, some treatments for other conditions near 100% effectiveness. Alternative medicine, by contrast, has either not been proved to work or been proved not to work.

It seems that in your opposition to the pharmaceutical industry is tainting your view of modern medicine in general.

I actually agree with you on some of the pill stuff and that a lot of Big Pharma is really bad and unscrupulus. Pills are no doubt over-prescribed in some places. But remember just because you don't like this does not mean that any credence should be given to scientifically unsupported alternatives. Also remember that criticism of the appalling, dangerous rubbish in the realm of alternative medicine is not a blanket approval of the entirety of the pharmaceutical industry.

A book you might actually enjoy (and something we might enjoy some common ground on) is Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm Patients -- the author's previous book Bad Science is one of my favourites.

LOL

I LOVE how you can criticise the profiteering of one industry in one post then post a clear advert for another in another. It even has a link to buy the shit in the text! Only $120 for 4 15ml bottles of ground up rock in water... but don't worry, if that's a bit much they're also selling 2 bottles of fruit juice for the low low price of only $50!

The food and beverages we eat provide electrically charged molecules that initiate energy production in our body. An ion is part of a molecule that carries an electrical charge. Positively charged ions are called "cations," while negatively charged ions are called "anions."

Most of the food we put into our bodies comes in a cationic form, while our natural digestive processes (hydrochloric acid, digestive enzymes, saliva) are anionic. Lemon is one of the only anionic foods on the planet. This means that it carries a very strong negative charge and is extremely electrically active.

Fresh lemon helps oxygenate the body and maximizes enzyme function. Lemon is known to stimulate the liver's natural enzymes. This assists the liver in the process of dumping toxins like uric acid and of liquefying congested bile ducts.

lol, sorry but even basic chemistry will tell you this is nonsense.

If there was ever a time to learn about the Natural Allopathic Medicine protocol and how to use iodine, bicarbonate, selenium and magnesium chloride, as well as its other components of the protocol, that time is now. The walls of Modern Medicine are falling, and if people were smart they would run out from under the falling stones and learn how to be independent of the medical industrial complex.

Yay! more rubbish!

It certainly seems as though anyone who insists on prefixing their name with 'Dr' is usually peddling some sort of bullshit and a lot of the time aren't actually doctors at all. This guy is doing both as checking reveals he's not a doctor in any way. He's apparently just decided to call himself a doctor, put on the compulsory white coat and started telling people (at a rate of $250/hr!) how to treat their loved ones' cancer with salts and baking powder... If he wasn't such a contemptable human being I'd admire his gall.

The process appears to be to stimulate undue fear, uncertainty and doubt about provably effective treatments then swoop in with their own quack miracle solution instead. It's profiteering on the desperation of others, it's negatively affecting their health and it's utterly despicable.

Despite various publications of results where hand-washing reduced mortality to below 1%, Semmelweis's observations conflicted with the established scientific and medical opinions of the time and his ideas were rejected by the medical community. Some doctors were offended at the suggestion that they should wash their hands and Semmelweis could offer no acceptable scientific explanation for his findings.

 Oh FFS, you’re talking about the quack medical establishment of the 1800’s. The butchers that groped around in the dark before science came along and gave the understanding and explanation of why he was right.

Jees, you’ve just made the case for proper medicine and blown your own silly argument to bits.

Semmelweis was one of the forerunners of the move away from the quackery you apparently advocate. He acted empirically - something not often done in those times it seems - and is the father of antiseptics.

Until not too long ago (maybe 100 or so years) everything was "alternative medicine" by modern definition - people were thinking they could cure stuff with salts and potions and juices (pretty much the exactly same stuff being stupidly advocated here) with a very poor evidence base, usually relying only on hypotheses and testimonial... but then the scientific revolution caught up, humanity learned how to properly test things and the stuff that worked became actual "medicine".

Yeah.

The are still selling out.

Now its to the pharmaceutical companies, rather than to Drug manufacturers.

And worse than the Pharma co's, is ...

Here it is a Senator (writing legislation favoring GMO's) who is the big sellout

I expect that Monsanto will not be a safe place to work at some date in the future...

When the ill-effects of their products is better known.

Here's another natural treatment : Oil-Pulling, which I first read about in GEI's own Fringe section,

(I know some here have tried it with good results):

What IS oil pulling, please?Chinaeskimo Jul 9 :

It is the Ayurvedic practice of gargling/swishing oil in your mouth for 15-20 min a day, preferrably on an empty stomach (that is the spark notes version). If you google it, you will get plenty of details. – Divrgurl13 Jul 10 at 18:35

Try sesame oil sometime. I think CO is nasty. It starts out solid and doesn't seem to emulsify as well. The sesame oil has a bitter taste, but it grows on you. After about 10 minutes, it gets all bubbly (emulsified) and really gets in between your teeth. I am amazed at the chunks of food that come out from my teeth when I do this--just like flossing. The amount to start with takes a while to judge, but you'll figure it out. Too much and you have to spit some out. Not enough and it makes it hard to swish. When you are done, you get a decent 'loogy' that's fun to spit out, too! – akman Jul 10 at 22:32

It certainly seems as though anyone who insists on prefixing their name with 'Dr' is usually peddling some sort of bullshit and a lot of the time aren't actually doctors at all.

Gillian "Doc" McKeith being a celebrity favorite of mine: http://www.badscience.net/2007/02/ms-gillian-mckeith-banned-from-calling-herself-a-doctor/

Have you read the biography on Steve Jobs?

I have the book, and I have read it.

That is what was implied: that Jobs died of cancer from delaying treatments. But you need to look more carefully.

But funnily enough Jobs chose Isaacson to tell his story. Steve put his trust into Walter.

Sure, we have to be mindful of all biases and given Steve's history of weird dietary fads (weeks of eating just broccoli), weird OCD (too neurotic to choose even a sofa in his hardly-furbished apartment!) - it's doesn't seem mega-inconsistent that he'd want to try his own way to overcome the disease which sadly didn't work. That's not to say it didn't have the potential to work... but the Jobs I read about was a man who fasted extensively to attain certain states of consciousness, euphoria, etc.

Conversely, look at Bill Hicks: some people say he died not of the pancreatic cancer from which he suffered, but of the treatment he received for it:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_did_bill_hicks_die

Bill Hicks died following complications from side effects of treatment for pancreatic cancer in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1994.

Coincidentally, Hicks was a frequent faster as well, as well as a veggie.

Both Jobs and Hicks died of pancreatic cancer. Neither "official" nor "quack" treatment fixed them. Bummer.

cancer is not a disease

remove the toxins and the body heals - its how it was designed

http://www.naturalne...dy_disease.html

Oh please.

Are we just talking semantics here? I was talking in layman's terms. Cancer is a condition, sure, but most people wouldn't turn their nose up at regarding as a disease or an illness or whatever. The point is its nasty and not that easy to fix either via scientifically-accredited methods or mad quackery.

And who designed the body? I kind of had a little bit more faith in Darwinist evolution, i.e. gene mutations etc., leading to my (basic) understanding that this is just how cells work.

Toxins indeed. Sure, some bad poisonous stuff will make you poorly but the idea of a perfectly cleansed body is ludicrous and like John Doe points out giving unqualified suggestions like this, let's say to "vulnerable" parties who may not be able to make reasonable decisions about treatment, is stupid and dangerous and is tantamount to giving permission to be ignorant.

But hey if you're unwell, you try EVERYTHING right?

your handle, notinformation, reminds me of Miss Information out of South Park

http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/Miss_Information

She cons the citizens of South Park into giving outrageous sums of money for her herbal "cures", that supposedly cure diseases and other health problems, often stating moments before a sale about the greed of doctors.

Miss Information specializes in "Native American" remedies, which she insists that, through their spiritual connection to the world, the will cure one's illnesses faster than Western medicines. Among her products are Cherokee Hair Tampons and All Natural Ball Juice. She states that when one gets sick, their toxins are poisoning them, and must be expelled by means of these remedies. She even hired two Mexican men, to play Native Americans, in order to make her products more convincing.

Miss Information was asked to treat Kyle by Sheila Broflovski and Sharon Marsh when his kidneys worsened presumably due to his diabetes. Since Sheila was reluctant to get him a kidney transplant, Miss Information applied several phony remedies to Kyle, which either had no effect or worsened his condition. However, she convinced everyone that it was natural for him to look worse before he got better. Eventually, Kyle got so sick that he was on the verge of death. When Sheila brought him in, the "Native Americans" noticed how sick he was and insisted he see a doctor. The customers were confused, still thinking that Miss Information's remedies were appropriate. They explained that they were actually Mexicans and that New Age medicines had little health benefits. They were asked to portray Native Americans because Miss Information said no one would buy anything from Mexicans.

The customers finally realized that Miss Information was nothing more than a con artist and proceeded to beat her up. She is likely deceased, as a women customer yells "Kill Her!!" right before they attack her.

Yeah, and I think I know why:

Isaacson wrote the "definitive" biographies of: Ben Franklin, Albert Eisenstein, and Henry Kissinger - and by all accounts treated them fairly.

Overall, I think he treated Jobs fairly too.

I may not like Walter's view on medicine, or his politics - But I admit that I like and respect the guy. He once showed me an act of kindness that I shall never forget, and I think he has a considerate and generous side which may, or may not, come across in his books.

On Cancer:

I have heard many people who have benefited from unconventional cancer treatments.

The stories are so widespread, that if I was ever to come down with it, I would study the matter deeply, and consider some unconventional therapies.

Unfortunately, Pancreatic Cancer, especially of the type that Jobs had, is nearly always fatal, whether it is treated conventionally or unconventionally. That is what I have read, anyway. And i know at least two people who have died of that particular disease.

and people still defend the medical mafia

http://www.naturalnews.com/039871_Big_Pharma_biopiracy_prescription_drugs.html

Big Pharma has also patented 'illegal' vitamin B6, marijuana

This ridiculous patenting of nature does not stop with Xyrem, either, as drug companies and the federal government have an extensive history of working hand-in-hand to ban, and subsequently patent, a wide variety of other natural substances as well. Pyridoxamine, a naturally-occurring form of vitamin B6, for instance, was declared by the FDA back in 2009 to be a "drug," which means supplement manufacturers can no longer use the vitamin in their formulas (http://www.naturalnews.com/025606.html).

The corporation known as the "United States of America" also possesses a patent, which was obtained back in 2003, for the cannabinoids found in the all-natural marijuana plant. As reported earlier this year, U.S. Patent 6630507, entitled "Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants," grants exclusive intellectual property rights for cannabis to the federal government and its drug industry allies, which are working overtime to develop patented, marijuana-based drugs for the treatment of all sorts of diseases (http://www.naturalnews.com).

"Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism," explains the patent in unabashed hypocrisy. "This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of a wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases," it adds, proving that federal marijuana prohibition serves private rather than public interests (http://digitaljournal.com/article/257008).
