3rd Party Challenges : Jesse Ventura, Gary Johnson, Nick Clegg

THE REAL DEBATE amongst 2012 Presidential Candidates: See Post #7, below

The debate is Called "Free & Equal" on Oct.28th

===============================================

If they get enough attention, they can get into Debates, and even win them.

That's the first objective.

But they have to be careful about how much money they take, and how many compromises they make to get a slice of power.

Else, you may get your third party with a theoretical voice, delivering a raft of apologies.

See this, from the UK's "most "successful Third Party, a litany of apologies

(To operate in a coalition, they found they had to give up some of their vital "promises")

Now this:

IoS exclusive: Liberal Democrat members lose faith in their leader

Nick Clegg has lost the confidence of Liberal Democrat members, a poll reveals for the first time today, as the Deputy Prime Minister attempts to persuade his party to stick with him for the "second half" of the coalition government.

. . .

A poll for Lib Dem Voice of paid-up party members, seen by The Independent on Sunday, shows that the Lib Dem leader's personal rating has fallen below zero for the first time, to minus 2 per cent.

The same poll put Mr Clegg on plus 13 per cent in August and plus 19 per cent in June. And an overwhelming majority – 79 per cent – of Lib Dem members think being in coalition will be bad for the party's election prospects in 2015.

Recognizing the Collapse potential...

- After telling us whom he would vote for President, if not himself, Gary Johnson shows he is aware of the real problems facing the country

He sounds like Dimitri Orlov on the "Collapse Gap"

Gary Johnson Could Appear in Presidential Debates

By ELIZABETH FLOCK

FE_edu_120216_gary-johnson425x283.jpg

Republican presidential candidate former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson makes a statement during a debate Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, in Orlando, Fla.

After weeks of angry protests on Reddit, Facebook and Twitterto get Libertarian party nominee Gary Johnson in the presidential debates, Janet Brown from the Commission on Presidential Debates tells Whispers he might appear there.

Supporters of Johnson, a former New Mexico governor, have repeatedly said their candidate has been unfairly excluded from presidential election coverage by the mainstream media, hurting his chances to appear in the debates.

That anger only heightened last week when a electoral map generated by data from ISideWith.com, an online app that connects voters with candidates based on their platform stances, showed that Johnson would be the next president if voters cast ballots based solely on the issues.

...Apparently I should vote for Jill Stein. But who the heck is she? B)

Here's a small-scale debate involving Jill Stein:

Maybe you can do some more research, and see if you like her and her positions.

I would be in favor of the various "Third party candidates" getting together for a Debate. And it might get some attention if it was Broadcast on YouTube.

They can invite the "major" candidates too. But I reckon they would not turn up

Meantime, Gary J is still fighting for a spot in the Major Debate

America deserves the chance to hear Gary Johnson

WASHINGTON D.C., September 18, 2012 – The Filipino philosopher José Rizal warned, “The glory of saving a country is not for him who has contributed to its ruin.” Those words ring especially true today as America collapses at home and around the world from the weight of decades of bad policies, neglected priorities and bipartisanly bad presidential leadership.

=== SideBar =====

How's this for some intelligent and reasoned discussion ?

=== Close =====

Now, more than ever, America deserves the chance to hear an independent, politically uncompromised, unscripted and mature discussion about the future of our nation. Given the enormity of America’s ongoing troubles, the November election may very well be the last opportunity voters get to referendum on the issues before the combined impact of these crises fundamentally changes the structure of American life as we know it. The only way that a substantive and discerning discourse can occur is if a third party candidate is allowed to participate in the upcoming Presidential Debates.

That candidate is Gary Johnson.

. . .

... How many other chronic, ongoing problems have yet to be addressed by either party? How many other outrages and oversights have been ignored by both the media and the two-party dominated campaign trail? Where is Congress? Where is our Commander in Chief? Where is the accountability?

America needs to hear more than the hollow, superficial, strategically meaningless topics that have been debated ad nauseum for the last three decades of televised presidential debates.

Agreed.

The problem we have here with our electoral system, is that (most of the time) if you don't vote for one the two front runners, you waste your vote.

We could really do with a better voting system, yet each time someone tries, it gets thrown out because when it comes down to it, the big parties know they would lose votes under a more "fair" system.

They would, but the more people that wake up and see the reality of the current BOUGHT-Politicians,

the more likely that people will demand some positive changes in the US system

From the Rom-Bama thread

There is about a 0% chance that Mitt or Obama would show up to a 3rd party debate, aka subtracting power from their party.

Yeah.

The two forces of darkness want to maintain their joint monopoly on Power.

But the Free & Equal Debate will go ahead nonetheless, and let's hope it gets huge publicity, and is available afterwards on YouTube

If it gets enough advance attention, there may be other debates and chances to hear the views of third parties

Spoiler Alert: Meet Gary Johnson, Libertarian

pol_johnson39__01__630x420.jpg

Gary Johnson was governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003. He made a name for himself by vetoing 750 bills that didn’t meet his standards for thrift. Before that, Johnson made a fortune in construction, starting as a solo Albuquerque handyman in 1974 and selling his 1,000-employee company, Big J Enterprises, for $10 million in 1999. Johnson likes to ski, hike, and cycle. He has completed 75 triathlons and climbed Mt. Everest while healing from a broken leg. Also, he is running for president.

While Representative Ron Paul (R-Tex.) carried the Libertarian flame all the way to the Republican convention this summer, it’s Johnson, not Paul, who’s on the ballot as the Libertarian candidate in 47 states—and making his case in courts to get on in the remaining three. (According to Richard Winger, editor of Ballot Access News, Pennsylvania is likely, Michigan a maybe, Oklahoma almost impossible.) “No other third party is going to come close to that,” Johnson says.

. . .

Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura, who ran as a third-party candidate, had been enlisted to help warm up the crowd. After railing against the Transportation Security Administration (whose pat downs the former professional wrestler called “sexual assault”), the Citizens United Supreme Court decision on political contributions, the war on drugs, and electronic voting machines, Ventura finally made his pitch for Johnson. “If I see light on the horizon with Gary Johnson, then in 2016 you might get Jesse Ventura,” he said, before bolting to take the train back to Minnesota.

1)

Cowboydroid,

An educated voter will almost undoubtedly vote for Johnson.

An uneducated voter will vote for whichever candidate promises the most handouts.

A stupid voter will vote for his "team's" party like it's NFL football.

It's time Americans woke up and started caring about their government again. It's time Americans started governing themselves, instead of allowing others to rule them like monarchs.

The price of Liberty is high! What a waste to throw it all away!

2)

Joe Public,

Maybe you are right about educated, uneducated, and stupid voters. Which of these voters will dominate in the election, do you suppose? The answer is obvious, and that does not make me hopeful.

I think we need to get people to realise "there's a new team in town", and the best way to do that is to get Third Party candidates, and especially Gary Johnson in the debates.

One debate already has him in it. It is called the The Free & Equal Debate. It will be in Chicago at the end of October. Support it. Talk about it. Let others know about it.

If anyone can succeed at 3rd party, it will be this guy, who has done it before. Love Jesse. I would vote for him in a heartbeat, although I don't agree with him on everything, it's quite enough.

Btw, why did CNN build a special set just for this special 1 hour interview with Jesse Ventura? And they have repeated this segment. Quite strange for the big daddy of mainstream media, no? And Jesse is as controversial as ever in this interview - even talks 9/11. Either Piers Morgan convinced his big bosses that he would portray Jesse as a crackpot....or things are changing.

Jesse Ventura 2016 Hype

By Jesse Herman On September 24, 2012 ·

When Jesse Ventura announced he would run for president if he could be in the debates and not have to raise money to accomplish that feat, it was several steps short of announcing a decision. This is not to blame him, after all he’s talking about 2016 not 2012, so it’s a couple years away. The next leading liberty candidate won’t be decided for another couple of years but make no mistake, Jesse Ventura is putting in ground work. Couple that with defections from the Ron Paul campaign openly criticizing the fallout and the podium is set for Ventura.

Don’t believe me?

Just in the past few days he has been on infowars, CNN, Russia Today (3 times) and Current TV, The View and more.

His message is clear. For one, he’s selling a book and there is nothing wrong with that. Two, he wants to get a chance to participate in the 2016 debates. He is interviewing for the job, right now. The kids on the internet (us) will either bite or turn the channel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtGX62BXeWI

Back to Jesse Ventura

There is a real opening here. Back when Ron Paul was at the height of his in the midst of the primaries, Ventura was pleading that Ron Paul run as an independent and consider him to be Vice President. At the time it sounded crazy. Now, a nice political maneuver to tidy him up with the Ron Paul folk. The fact Ventura constantly steals lines from guys like Ralph Nader (2 Party Dictatorship), endorses Gary Johnson and appeals to a variety of fringe groups like none other makes it clear he could disrupt the left-right paradigm. Compare that to Benton and even Rand Paul who is supporting Romney and it’s clear a charismatic independent candidate is needed and his name is Jesse Ventura.

Ventura represents the next level of the truth movement. What truth? Especially the truth about the two party systems, politics, government and that touchy subject known as 9/11. His declaration to go fully independent, separate from all parties would have a strong emotional pull for the masses who before always stuck with their party affiliation.

This is not to speculate if he could win because that’s not the point. Jesse Ventura has taken a commanding lead in the 2016 election amongst Independent voters and his followers have 4 years to break into mainstream minds.

MORE VOICES for a Third Party

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPz6uQjc2bA

"They moved the cheese" (what wins middle class votes)

It seem the Two Main parties are so caught up in grabbing cash from Corporations to try to "buy" votes with advertisements and light-weight spin, that they no long know how to (legitimately) win Middle Class votes.

Oh, as Romney has pointed out, the Dems know how to "buy" votes with Entitlements, but that is ruining the country

A Bit dated, but this 2007 Video has some good points about how the game is Rigged

Gary Johnson, Antitrust Plaintiff, Sues Major Parties for Monopolizing Politics

Lawsuits are common in politics, but there was one filed recently that is not common at all: someone has brought an antitrust suit, alleging that the major political parties have monopolized politics, and it is not exactly some crackpot who did it. The plaintiff is Gary Johnson, who is the Libertarian Party's nominee to be President, and who was not long ago the Governor of New Mexico. Governor Johnson's campaign filed suit on Friday in a California federal court, alleging that the Democrats, the Republicans, and the Commission on Presidential Debates have conspired to exclude other candidates in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act. Governor Johnson seeks to enjoin the Presidential debates until other candidates are permitted to participate, so as to "restore competition and a level and honest playing field amongst those persons seeking the presidency . . . ."

Third Parties Spar

DemocracyNow.org - As President Obama and Mitt Romney squared off for the first time on Wednesday night, Democracy Now! broke the sound barrier by pausing Obama and Romney's answers to get real-time responses from candidates Jill Stein of the Green Party and Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party.

Stein and Anderson joined Democracy Now! for a live special just miles away from the Obama-Romney contest at the University of Denver.

"The Future doesn't Need Us" - Do we need Clinton, Bush ?

/ they helped to create the mess. can we really elect one of them? /

Bumper-HRC3_zps3ptda6sc.jpg

I was going to start this thread with a different title:

De-selecting Clinton and Bush

- with the main idea that presidential elections no longer offer real choice.

They simply serve up pre-selected candidate who are both ready to serve the elites.

This is a problem that I want to discuss on this thread.

Meantime, the following interview with Catherine Austin-Fitts gave a broader perspective.

She has some chilling things to say about the state of America in 2015

... and we have to remember that the present MESS WAS CREATED by a series of presidents

from the Clinton and Bush dynasties (and let's include Obama, who has some familial connections

with the Bushes, and has behaved like a soul-brother of the Bushes.)

MP3 : http://www.mediafire.com/download/eqk3akf3fkxer66/TMRN_PTS3134_64kbps.mp3

Catherine Austin Fitts ~ What is Mr. Global up to These Days ... -- The Plane Truth ~ PTS3134

CAF mainly talks about how Americans are being "harvested" by their institutions.

The good news is that people are waking up.

She gives the example of the stewardess (Rebekah Roth) who stopped believing in the official story

of 9/11, but it took her 10 years to write a book about it.

Whom do we trust? Nobody. Here are the confidence ratings of various US institutions

Military : 50% confidence

Media - : 7% confidence

Corporations : less than 7%

"These institutions seem to be working to lower the live expectancy of those who are not useful"

"People are waking up to the games that were played on them... And they are tired of them."
