The Breakthrough - Human thinking is changing

Recommended Posts

I am not a statistician, but my partner has a Phd from Oxford, and did tons of statistical work, and I can ask her to look at it. My common sense tells me that we do not have enough years of data to draw strong inferences from the data, but a new trend may well have established itself since 2009. (especially if we take 2011 at an annualised rate of 22-23 - so 2009 was the "breakout year" and 2010 and 2011 are bring strong quakes into a new higher range.)

Oh please, please do and I'll guarantee you will be very surprised.

Not many people understand statistics well, it is actually a lot more complicated (and powerful) than "common sense" and is a discipline in itself. Many people misunderstand statistics, including many researchers (especially in the medical field), this is one of the reasons that so many studies come out with shocking misinformation.

I eagerly await her response.

HOW THE HIPPIES SAVED PHYSICS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APoPpalw4lU

Harvard and MIT scientists are interviewed.

(Actually, from my own experience, I found many Harvard people far more open-minded,

than the square-heads in lessor Universities. Once you hit or approach an 800 on your

board scores, there's not so much more left to prove, and the curiousity emerges.)

EXCERPT from the NY Times Review

In “How the Hippies Saved Physics: Science, Counterculture, and the Quantum Revival,” David Kaiser, an associate professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, turns to those wild days in the waning years of the Vietnam War when anything seemed possible: communal marriage, living off the land, bringing down the military with flower power. Why not faster-than-light communication, in which a message arrives before it is sent, overthrowing the tyranny of that pig, Father Time?

That was the obsession of Jack Sarfatti, another member of the group. Sarfatti was Wolf’s colleague and roommate in San Diego, and in a pivotal moment in Kaiser’s tale they find themselves in the lobby of the Ritz Hotel in Paris talking to Werner Erhard, the creepy human potential movement guru, who decided to invest in their quantum ventures. Sarfatti was at least as good a salesman as he was a physicist, wooing wealthy eccentrics from his den at Caffe Trieste in the North Beach section of San Francisco.

Other, overlapping efforts like the Consciousness Theory Group and the Physics/Consciousness Research Group were part of the scene, and before long Sarfatti, Wolf and their cohort were conducting annual physics and consciousness workshops at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur.

JOHNSON-articleInline.jpg

Fritjof Capra, who made his fortune with the countercultural classic “The Tao of Physics” (1975) was part of the Fundamental Fysiks Group, as was Nick Herbert, another dropout from the establishment who dabbled in superluminal communication and wrote his own popular book, “Quantum Reality: Beyond the New Physics” (1985). Gary Zukav, a roommate of Sarfatti’s, cashed in with “The Dancing Wu Li Masters” (1979). I’d known about the quantum zeitgeist and read some of the books, but I was surprised to learn from Kaiser how closely all these people were entangled in the same web.

I eagerly await her response.

With 30 data points, she said that is hardly enough.

And she suggested that I chart the data points, and then she could say something about it.

Really?

That’s quite a surprise.

I would have thought the subject matter would have been more important, statistically speaking. (Actually, that’s a little white lie. I KNOW that the subject matter would have been more important to any statistician).

For example, the statistics governing the lottery, are totally different to those considering an ensemble of elementary particles etc. I’m sure you know this yourself from the old “past performance is no indicator of future performance” when used in relation to stocks etc.

Different subject matter = different distributions = different statistical methods and approaches.

Please let me know what she thinks once you have charted the data points.

PS I took your advice on the trading diary earlier and shorted dow at 11520, just moved stops down to lock in 60 ticks. Cheers!

World Leaders Will Be In Recess During Elenin Alignment on September 26-27, 2011

by Gregg Prescott, M.S.

In a strange coincidence of anomalies, many world leaders and politicians will be in recess during the next alignment with ‘Comet’ Elenin.

The United Nations has an empty schedule from September 23rd through October 10th, 2011.

The UK Parliament is in recess from September 15th through October 10th, 2011.

The United States Congress is on vacation from September 25th through October 2nd, 2011.

Germany’s President’s schedule is empty after September 25, 2011.

Well in the UK it’s conference season (as last year, and the year before that etc etc), so the politicians are actually more visible during this period than the lazy b******s are during rest of the year put together! :D

2) Interviews, like this one with Neal Kramer :

Unreal meltdowns, Machine vs. Human Culture

MP3: http://radio.veritasshow.com/VS-110902-nkramer-t6c.mp3

(note/ after listening: It starts a bit slowly. Maybe jump in at half-way. I liked the description):

In this interview, Neil Kramer explains what constitutes a “low frequency” life, and how living this way limits perception and keeps us functioning far beneath our potential. He talks about how “the controllers” use symbolism and timing to make sure trauma leaves fertile ground for further manipulation of the psyche and behavior.

Kramer says that for the control system to work, it must perpetuate distinctive positive and negative forces, capitalism vs. socialism, the reds vs. the blues, as there must be somewhere to channel aggression and despondency.

. . .

From this interview, in Kramer’s own words…

“The biggest disease in the normal construct is this low vibration. Pop stars and kings and queens and junk food and war and Facebook – it’s all limiting, drab, rubbish. If you come to a place of stillness, the unmoving mind, a place of balance, that neutral space – you see the world as mysterious and extravagant.

“’The construct’ tells us we know most of what there is to be known, but as you walk your own sovereign path as master and warrior, you realize that science and politics and education know next to nothing about how this world works and fits together.

“Human potential is stunningly massive in terms of what is achievable.

WHAT SIGNS do you see, if any, as we sit on the eve of what may be a major currency crisis?

Will we emerge from this crisis with a new way of thinking?

I'm becoming a big fan of Kramer via his appearances on C-Realm. I'm a very "nuts and bolts" sort of person, so tend to avoid mysticism and pseudoscience, but a lot of what Kramer talks about makes sense even to me. When he talks about the "construct", I just read it as public opinion or societal norms, and there's definitely a change taking place. I think the key is for people to encourage the positive personal development outlook rather than go down the conspiratorial rabbit hole. As popular as the likes of Alex Jones is, all he's really doing is making people cynical and disenfranchised. You don't engage people by calling them sheep and shouting down at them for being stupid. The likes of KMO at C-Realm, Jack Spirko at The Survival Podcast and assorted others achieve much more by saying "look, the system is corrupt and broken and heading for a fall, but you don't HAVE to be part of it". They also don't impose their terms, which I think is the other important thing. I've learnt and discovered much more about myself through the likes of Kramer than I ever would listening to Alex Jones and his NWO stuff. There may well be a sinister NWO, who knows, but the best way of fighting it isn't with marches and riots, it's by removing yourself from the system that supports them. That's my opinion anyway.

I'm sorry, but that's just complete paranoid drivel.

Comet Elenin - diameter 3 miles, closest approach 22 million miles

Venus - diameter 7500 miles, closest approach 24 million miles

Other comets have come MUCH close than Elenin ever will, down to about 3 million miles. Even then, that's still many times more distant than the Moon. Last time I looked, we're all still here.

Yeah, Phil.

I think that is a healthy response, to become as self-sufficient as possible.

But in the US at least, TPTB are up to some very nasty tricks, like regulating agriculture through the "food police", making it difficult to obtain seeds, swap food, and obtain organic products. How do you cope with that?

I see your point - thanks for making it.

But prior conjuctions HAVE been associated with major quakes.

I saw the prediction of a March 11th quake BEFORE one hit Japan. Then it happened.

I will wait and see what happens on Monday. Another quake then would leave me worried.

WARNING:

I saw a similar story on the HK news tonight:

Space Debris Rain Set for Friday: NASA

September 23, 2011

A defunct NASA satellite is expected to plunge back to earth on Friday, raising concerns that blazing hot debris may shower down on the unsuspecting terrestrial population.

NASA's Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, shown in an artist's rendering, is expected to crash land Friday leaving a trail of debris 500 miles long. The satellite originally measured the chemistry and energy of the Earth's atmosphere before being decommissioned in 2005.

NASA said on Thursday to expect pieces of the satellite to start falling in the afternoon, Easter Daylight Time, but the projection isn't 100 percent accurate.

"It is still too early to predict the time and location of re-entry with any more certainty, but predictions will become more refined in the next 24 hours," NASA said late Thursday.

Ah... if that, then:

Coherence to WHICH beliefs ?

I used to say: "TRUTH is a harmony of past belief."

If you accept that, then you had better realise that beliefs need to be constantly re-examined, and also have some means for discarding beliefs which have been disproven

Equally, I've seen many more predictions of events that have subsequently not come to pass, not least your own warnings about the effects of the "Supermoon". Let's be even handed here and focus on the hits AND the misses, otherwise selection bias creeps in. Regarding quakes, many may well have occurred during conjunctions or alignments over the years, but many more will have occurred when no such event was taking place, suggesting mere coincidence. We live on an active planet, so something is always going to coincide with something else. Doesn't imply causation. I'd wager far more quakes have occurred when there ISN'T a comet on close approach than when there IS, so if anything, the relative proximity of Elenin ought to be of comfort to you, as it means we're statistically less likely to have an event...

I'd be careful before using this to try and claim an overturning of the scientific orthodoxy. The results need to be repeated, preferably independently before we start jumping up and down. Even if they do prove to be correct, it's doesn't necessarily mean Einstein was wrong in the same way Einstein didn't mean Newton was wrong, it just means Special Relativity isn't the full picture. It has survived 106 years of scrutiny and ever more detailed measurement, which suggests it's on the right lines, so I don't think we ought to be throwing it in the bin just yet. The CERN result is fascinating if true, but it is currently not verified. Fleischmann–Pons and Rusi P. Taleyarkhan spring to mind.

"Highly Speculative"? Maybe.

But given the next "expected big quake" day is tomorrow, I thought why not post this here:

CORONAL MASS EJECTION- Sunday / Obama on "high ground" in Denver

... Whenever I get notices from the Solar Influences Data Analysis Center, I par attention, especially when president Obama et al are up in Denver (thinking high ground, eh?) on the 27th. Made all the more interesting because a coronal mass ejection will be hitting earth Sunday:

The proton flux measured by the GOES satellite has been increasing since the long duration X flare event yesterday. The ~10MeV threshold may be crossed later today, especially if the proton flux is reinforced by other possible events from Cat 72 (NOAA 1295) or Cat 82 (NOAA 1301). As more data is now available, it becomes clear that the CME associated with this X-flare is a large scale event. PROBA2/SWAP difference images show a global EUV wave. STEREO A and B chronographs imaged a clear halo CME. SOHO/LASCO suffers from a data gap, but also suggest a halo CME. Speed estimates based on COR2 data lead to a CME speed between 620 (based on STEREO A) and 900 km/s (based on STEREO B). We expect the earth to receive a glancing blow from this CME, probably in the morning of september 25.

None of which is to suggest a big earthquake is imminent next week, but it wouldn't surprise me. Clif keeps mentioning the West Coast sure has been quiet in a strange/foreboding sort of way.

All of which wouldn't be worth mentioning except that Oilman2 had a little time on his hands yesterday and has come up with a new way of looking at earthquakes, using a kind of graphing system used by oil-types for certain kinds of engineering problems....I think of it as a kind variant of the electronics Smith charts I'm familiar with, but without the log scale, but here's where this eventually leads...the cool email from Oilman2:

"OK – I made the chart since it is a slow day here.

Just thinking that there is lots of movement in the eastern half of the planet when compared to the western.

I put Cascadia and New Madrid longitude points in for reference – one quake in Cali last year, but it was in southern Cali where the fault slides more easily. Everything else is under a 6.0 and doesn’t map here, where only 6.0 and above are plotted"

Amazement As Speed Of Light 'Is Broken'

Fri, Sep 23, 2011 \

Scientists at the world's largest physics lab think they may have proved Albert Einstein's theory of relativity wrong - by breaking the speed of light.

Nice. :D

Of course, totally hyped (misreported) by the press again, after reading the actual paper, they are quite clear that they are not claiming the speed of light is broken and that relativity is wrong, but rather that they have seen some strange results and are looking for help in explaining/repeated/confirming etc.

So, while a long way from being proven, it is potentially very exiting and yet another example of why science is so great.

Keep an open mind, but never stop questioning, never just take someone’s word for it and keep demanding evidence

This is exactly what we were trying to point out previously. It’s what separates science from faith and belief.

Doctrinaire Science does not hold all the answers, since Scientific beliefs do change

Real science does not claim to have all the answers, nor does it have "beliefs".

When evidence and observations show a contradiction in a belief, the believers fight it.

When the same happens in science, the scientists embrace it.

They check, they recheck, they try to eliminate all possible errors, they then try to repeat it, they then ask others to repeat it, and then and only then, they say "Hey, this looks like it might just be real"!

Fantastic.

Infowars Covers Operation Mountain Guardian

Kurt Nimmo .. Infowars.com .. September 23, 2011

Infowars.com correspondents Darrin McBreen and Aaron Dykes are on the ground in Denver, Colorado, covering a massive martial law take-over drill now underway.

More than 100 federal and state agencies are currently involved in Operation Mountain Guardian, billed as a drill to simulate a terrorist attack based on events in Mumbai that killed 164 people in 2008.

I can assure you that this is not a "Denver accent":

At the end, he reveals that it is Federal government money that is paying for the drill.

As yourself, why are the Feds so interested in malls and crowd control in Denver.

(Might they want to be sure that the nearby DUMBs will remain safe?)

THE 911 ATTACK on WTC a surprise?

(My @rse it was !)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3STqgGCIR0&NR=1

She was a CIA "asset" with direct contact with Iraq on behalf of the CIA.

Here she tells the inside story.

Unless she was lying, the CIA knew about the attack in April 2001,

and was setting up an operation around airplane hijackings and an attack.

Description:

Amazing testimony of ex CIA Asset Susan Lindauer. 5 years of legal troubles, 1 year in prison for daring to tell the truth. During the Bush era the top controllers of the governmental mechanics of Defense and national Security wanted to have a war with Iraq. They got their wish and anyone who got in the way were dealt with severely no matter if they violated a law or not. Not brought to trial she was jailed under the "Patriot Act" which amounted to summary punishment outside a Verdict in a court of law. She was punished in jail without a Trial at all This is part of her story that is just unfolding now. She has waited 10 years to tell this story.

This story makes me very @ngry. How can anyone have been vile enough

to plan the operation she discusses?

Thanks for the reports from that most credible of sources: Infowars.

Yeah, Right.

We cannot trust infowars on this report.

They must have hired an actor to lie about how the Feds funded this operation.

Susan Lindauer must be lying too, since she is on the same page of this thread
