Professor Rosling traces the rise of nations

Impressive when seen visually.


The great leaps in life exp from 1948 were largely due to the mass production and first availability of penicillin to civilians. (Australia was first to offer this IIRC)


Over the following years this spread to the other countries, extending av life exp, and laying the basis for modern medicine (which has gone on to improve life exp further).


Alos the "Great Leap Forward" in Mao's China, seen as the big red ball bouncing is quite poignant.


It still seems shocking to me that it was only 65 years ago that even the richest of people were still dying of a simple cut that got infected.
