  1. RETIREMENT strategies: Where? How?

It's going up, used to be 20 times, at 5%. Awww the wonderful world of ZIRP/NIRP Been thinking about this a lot lately, a couple of other key points to consider: . in the example the 50K needs to be net . TAX is the biggest expense of your life and most people (if you're not involved in Panama papers...) . Biggest costs of living: 1) House 2) Transportation 3) Food, etc.. These retirement models have assumptions that make all the difference: . where do you live / cost of living . % rate of return per year . % of withdraw per year Children make a huge difference, recent study in the UK says: Average cost of raising a child in UK £230,000 that's pounds!
  2. Sure Doc, that message seem like one of those ads for binary options or something
  3. The Blame or praise Barroso? thread

the correct name is Barroso, with an "a" Borroso, in portuguese would translate into portuguese to something like "crapped / shitted" it's ok we don't like him in Portugal either and yes he did abandon the country in the middle of his term as prime minister to get his reward for serving the big powers in getting Iraq, btw he went to a 30K eur per month + perks vs his portuguese PM job of 6K eur / month and the great retirement package that all those bloodsuckers at the EU get also he has been known to go on holidays with billionaires on yachts and islands in Brasil, I'm sure that's nothing to do with his job, but friends who just like a guy who was a maoist

Hanging on and bought more SDS bull call spreads for Nov AAPL lifting the whole NDX IBM new highs yesterday on low volume Still a lot of Put buying can fuel this higher. Also Vix doesn't fall much

By the way closed my TBT bull call spreads here at the open, and I'm now 100% cash looking for opportunities, waiting for the stock market to top out in the next few days (perhaps today), same with euro. Also waiting for a bottom in Nat Gas soon

Thanks for the replies. Regarding the trades above, now I understand that you're not looking so much at fundamentals and use the screener. I was a bit confused with the latest trades which were not shared here beforehand, i.e. when the orders were placed, I understand and respect that you didn't want to share with others since it was a moment of high uncertainty in the markets (last friday), but I felt a bit left out seeing the trades only after they were executed. I did buy TBT a bit early and didn't share it here also. My challenges with options are identifying the right ones to trade -> which month and which price, to avoid losing on theta and benefit from delta, meanwhile trying to protect with risk, that's why I've been focusing mostly on bull spreads. For the challenge here, it can be simpler and useful to identify a couple of instruments for each underlying, kind of a watchlist i.e. Gold -> use GLD, ASA..., Oil ->USO, BP, COP,... Silver -> SLV... SP500 -> SPY, SDS,.. Big Caps -> JNJ, CRM,... I understand that there's a lot to watch, but if we have a list we can add or take out when necessary For example I've been looking at Platinum, but haven't found an interesting (liquid) instrument / ETF...

  13. THE GEI TRADING TEAM thread

Closed the JNJ puts on friday (wanted a relaxing weekend) for a 10% profit in one day. Cheers Dr. B
  14. THE GEI TRADING TEAM thread

With high Vix it's a good time to sell options, but it requires high margins

Are you going for Oct 22s? . JAG, can't figure it out, Brazil..., going down since 2010, I like gold and silver, but please explain . BP, also a fishy stock (seems like massive H&S on weekly).. isn't your favorite TOT in better shape? Dr B, please assist, I'm looking to get long gold & silver, via options, seems to me most liquid are GLD and SLV, PM stocks are cheap, but premiums are very high cause of volatility...expensive to buy calls I've begun trading options, when I get the direction right sometimes I get beaten on premiums or liquidity..is it really like fish? I've decided to trade only liquid options with spreads less than 10 cents and bull and bear spreads when going 2 or 3 months to avoid time decay. I see many ppl talking about selling options, but the margins are high to do it
