UK General Election - Prime Ministerial TV debates

Absolutely underling - none dared say that house prices are too high. Nobody challenged Gordon Brown's wish to keep interest rates low - given the Greece scenario that is poor debating. Question 7 - Unfairness of some working hard in life up to retirement while others live on benefits

UK General Election - Prime Ministerial TV debates

Question again "Myself and my partner are priced out of housing despite earning a good wage. What will you do to help? " Cameron : No stamp duty first £250,000, more houses needs building for families Clegg : 100,000's of empty houses need to be converted, local councils more freedom to build, convert one beds BTLs in towns into family houses Brown : Building firms wre struggling, there is a pent up demand for housing in this country, 1 million more home owner, more shared equity  Cameron also saying more part rent, part buy Clegg covert BTLs into family homes. Hope you won't be paying BTL landlords them a decent price Nick Brown wants interest rates low "I want interest rates low for existing home owners"

Cameron vs Clegg ding dong now over the fact that 80% of immigration is from the EU and not possible to control. This is just a bit ugly

Cameron is spending too much time quoting figures and going into complexities! Brown is too repetitive This is again giving Clegg a presentational advantage

Question 5. Missed the question - not well delivered by audience member - Immigration related Correction - do MPs remember that you are here to serve the public, and to address public concerns over issues like immigration

Who do you think is doing well ? I notice the two 20-30s people I have watching this with me are now bored! Perhaps 90 minutes of mostly economic debate is too much for the average voter.

Clegg doing well again. Stated that money used to bail out the banks was used to lend to Kraft for the takeover of local firm Cadburys, which has led to local job losses. The first sign of emotion within the crowd in this series of debates. That comment by Clegg worked. I think its Clegg > Brown > Cameron at the moment

UK General Election - Prime Ministerial TV debates

Universal condemnation of bankers bonuses and recklessness by all three, with attempts for minor point scoring. Levies on the banks stated from all. Brown stating that government owns the banks and can sell the shares later on to get the money back. Q4. How do you intend to rebuilt the country's manufacturing base. "We can't just have a country full of offices and shops" brilliantly put by the questioner

Clegg going for some emotive answers in this debate i.e. "I have had constituents in tears over ......" "To get back to your question *ladies name* ", "Well *man's name", I agree with you........" Better camerawork this week, no tacky set a la SKY, and better debate chairmanship Question 3 : What will your party do about unfairness with bankers bonuses?

Interesting bit now: Brown attacking Cameron over his inheritance tax cut for the rich. Cameron answer : Cameron believes that those who work hard to pay off the mortgage should be able to pass that on to their children, not the taxman" Clegg to Cameron : "That's the most creative answer for giving tax breaks to double millionaires"

Brown "let us support economy until recovery assured" "support the recovery.........support the recover..........work done to secure recovery at risk if tories......." Cameron "business leaders say risk is in putting up national insurance 'job tax' " "if you wont work you can't go on claiming benefits" Clegg "must fill the black hole in finances by closing loopholes" "fairness for tax system - first £10,000 earnings tax free"

It's not a bad bet that the pound gets hammered too if there is a hung parliament election in the UK. New Sterling highs for a while perhaps?

"How would you make immigration fairer" Nick Clegg - sricter border controls, place arrivers where the jobs are in the country, Brown - no unskilled worker from outside Europe can come. Skill more british people for job shortages. Biometric visas, points system to get in. Cameron - transition period for new EU countries to limit their entry to UK, set a cap on immigration
