  1. This HP index guide is handy http://www.home.co.uk/guides/house_prices_indices/ London would be a disaster in my mind as a 'safe haven' of any sort. Its already a quite dangerous place to live unless you are in super rich enclave. I see the place as a credit junkie, now on methadone (printy printy ). Better to live where there is some kind of sustainable economy. In Europe that will be agriculture and some manufacturing. If I was YFS I would head to Shanhai and make my fortune.

Quite an attack on the gold price from NY open. $18 down and then a strong bounce. Still plenty of dips to buy in
  3. The contrarian in me says that the Euro will be much stronger than currently anticipated by the media.
  4. Look at this report (page 8) http://www.home.co.uk/asking_price_index/HAPIndex_AUG10.pdf or perhaps we have a whizz among us who can extract the chart.
  5. http://www.home.co.uk/guides/time_on_marke...urrey&all=1 Time on Market is on the rise and quickly. Soon to be as bad as the during the worst part of the first leg down.
  6. IMO: The UK must continue to inflate away the debt [QE again and again]. Otherwise the Banks will fall over. If house prices start to fall seriously the government will print money to buy them (e.g. council houses). The story for the consumer will be that they have less and less money to spend on housing and more and more must be spent on fuel and food.
  7. Home.co.uk have published a similar chart in their last asking price report (comments section towards the end). http://www.home.co.uk/asking_price_index/HAPIndex_NOV10.pdf

  19. 1. Think about what goes into making that chicken breast. £20/lb would still be cheap. (or is that cheep cheep!!) 2. Most large families have a trolley loaded to that sort of figure.
  20. I like that. Bitter/sour for the tax payer who has to pay for the bailouts but scrumptous for the bankers.

    Excellent post Great perspective.
  22. http://www.home.co.uk/asking_price_index/HAPIndex_JULY10.pdf The regions are suffering, but not London yet. See also: http://www.home.co.uk/company/press/seller...ion_in_june.htm
  23. Yes indeed. All grain crops in Northern Europe will be low yields this year due to low rainfall and premature ripening. Price must go up and by a long chalk.
