DrBubb, I see some consolidation has occured with THR's stocks?
Know of anymore about this?
Vish
I'm a relative newbie mining investor. I got into some AIM listed stocks mentioned on here earlier this year. If anyone wants to hear my opinions based on hindsight & learning from experience - here they are! I actually think this could be a great time to buy. Thats my view based on hindsight (as I bought probably a little too soon - March)

Anyway, earlier this year I decided to put 10% of my cash into about 4-6 juniors. The first mistake I made was not looking at the charts for an entry point. Even if you are a newbie, this should be quite an easy thing to do. Do some basic reading about support and resitance, and you should figure it out. Basically, don't be in a hurry to buy. Try to buy cheap if you can. You can always wait a bit.

Onto specific stocks...

I think at current prices, THR & GAL are great value, and likely to see gains quite soon.

THR - Feasibility due in Nov.
GAL - Production within a month (?). Cash flow soon thereafter.

Also, HIF is falling on light volume. May fall a bit further, but it's very good value here, if Gold remains firm.

I like TYM too, but thats an uber long termer. There will be plenty of oppurtunities to get in cheaply over the next couple of years IMO. Production is not expected for a good few years. But keep your eye on their schedule - i.e. resource updates, RNS etc..
http://www.tertiaryminerals.com/download/1...esite-forum.pdf

Also - CDN. This is currently suspended after a reverse takeover. It is basically going from being a junior gold explorer to a Coke Coal producer. There are some clever chaps on ADVFN who are debating what the fair value SP might be in the future - most of them agree it will be much higher than the 6p that it is suspended on. Having said that, there is still a lot of factors in play. The SP may open much higher, in which case I would say wait. However if the SP opens in the 6-8p area I would recommend taking a look.

One that I haven't bought yet, but am planning to is CEY. Would appreciate any opinions on this one smile.gif
Maybe I'll start a thread!

Anyway, these are all my opinions. Take a look at the relevant threads on each of the shares I've mentioned for more details on the companies - what they do etc..... They are all in this section of the forum.

Hope this helps anyone who reads here, but doesn't have a clue on how to get started.

Remember DYOR & Good luck! smile.gif

Nice one Vish.

I hold THR, GAL and HIF, and I agree with your views on GAL. It's been overlooked by the market. Not sure what all the bullishness on THR is about. It's at an early stage, no by no means a dead cert.

I also like SVM-TSX. Very nive Silver play with large high grade resorces. I went to a presentation the other day and they had a piece of ore from their mine, and you could see the silver and pluck small pieces off it. It's so high grade it goes directly into smelter.
Vish
BP - I guess you are right re: THR. I think thats more of a gut feeling than anything. The share has been dropping due to lack of interest, but news-wise it is making all the right noises.

Unfortunately coal miners have fallen alot since CND was suspended.
Maybe a sale at 7p would have been smart

anyone looked at HIF's drill results from Santa Cruz today?
DrBubb
Phase 2 Drilling Programme Commences

Hidefield Gold plc ("Hidefield" or the "Company", HIF:AIM) is pleased
to report the latest drill results including high grade gold
mineralization intercepted in the Coyote Sur vein system at the
Company's Martinetas property in East Santa Cruz, Argentina where
another substantial drilling programme has now commenced.

Three core holes at Coyote Sur on the Martinetas property had
intercepts with values up to 7.96 gpt gold along 12.7 metres (4.58 gpt
with high grade intervals cut to 34.3 gpt) in CYS-D06-01 and 38.21 gpt
gold along 2.05 metres (9.24 gpt with high grade intervals cut to 34.3
gpt) in CYS-D06-02. A further nine holes on the Cerro Oro and
Armadillo vein systems, also located in the Martinetas sector of the
project area, all intercepted gold mineralization in multiple veins.
Following suspension of drilling for the winter months, the second
phase of the programme totaling 8,000 metres resumed in late September.

Vish, yes its looking up indeed. I'm glad I held onto these, or at least I hope I will be glad smile.gif

THR has had a good day on the ASX. Up about 25%, as are the warrants.

The UK market is asleep, perhaps they may wake up one day. cool.gif

I think it's the imminent BFS, due for 11th next Saturday, that people have picked up on.

things going well lately for GAL, THR & HIF
sigmadelta
I've just had an email from Thor's chairman, John Barr. He says the DFS will be completed, he believes, in 2-3 weeks. A bit later than forecast a week ago. They are having a busy time over there.

great.

when it comes out, it could bring a big push up in the stock

Lets hope so the AIM price has a horrid spread at the moment. Price was a little better pre-consolidation.
Vish
THR & HIF have continued strength...

Vish, THR has done well today. 20x the trades of the 3month average.
Ask/Bid is up.
Nimmmm
I quite like some of the juniors too. Have shares in CEY.L, HMB.L, KMR.L. Am considering buying into GOO.L, LRL.L & OVG.L. Anyone with any views on any of these?
'Green'Investor
Could I ask for some suggestions for a medium term gold-play with LSE listed gold miners.

As a bit of background, I have been trying to buy one of the gold etfs/etcs for my monthly sharebuilder account but it doesn't seem possible to buy any of them even the GBP denominated ones (the reply I got was "we have taken a business decision to use the US stock line).

Are there any suitable companies to buy in this way?

Thanks.

I used to own PGD.L a small junior in Argentina with good claims, but a victim of provincial politics. I ran out of patience at the end of last year and bailed. The company will be able to resume work on its best claim in Chebut province c2009 when incidentally gold should be much higher so the company is worth looking at.

Then there was SOLG.L, this one was heavily 'Pumped' late last year by ex-Northern Rockers looking to make up for lost ground after the company put out some good drill results. I walked from this a few months ago having lost a bit but others may find the company is worth a shot.

Lastly there was AGQ.L - a Mexican silver play that I bought at the peak laugh.gif Down nearly 50% now unsure.gif Anyway loads of potential even though the public does not think so. Also traded across 3 exchanges so good exposure. I pulled the paper certificates on this one - Its definately a long hold.

I used to own a few shares in BHP, but I found that the price would be up in the evening on the LSE but down the next morning at open. This happened a few times and the only thing I could think of was the Aussies pulling the money over night that had just gone in mad.gif

Overall I found the mining companies on the AIM to be a bit 'Chunky' - the sort of companies that just tick over and over for ever and ever. There only reason for listing on the AIM as opposed to the TSX seems to be a colonial link with many of them operating in Commonwealth countries.

If there is anyone here who owns (lond) London Mining, you may find it interesting to know that the owner of Benbrack and Charkit Limited is none other than Chris Brown who is the former managing director and co founder of London Mining.View linkAccording to a pr released by london mining Chris was instrumental in the purchase and sale of an iron ore mine in brazil which was sold for $810 million us. View LinkBenbrack and Charkit recently infused 2.4 Million into an american small cap called TTXP.OB Trilliant Exploration but there was no mention of Chris Brown. Then a few days later Trilliant TTXP.OB disclosed an 8k regarding the creation of a new wholly owned subsidiary called Trilliant Diamond. I think it might be a good idea to keep a close eye on this little company! Any Thoughts?

Found this interesting with regard to the performance of AIM miners

http://www.ey.com/Publication/vwLUAssets/M...eye_Q2_2009.pdf

Wonder if Q3 will exceed the 47% increase seen in Q2 of the top 20 AIM miners.

AGLD story gets better, taking over Solomon Gold and Listing on TSX

A certain Chris Brown has just taken control of de listed TOMCO ENERGY and is planning to bring them back to AIM in early 2010.

Well worth keeping an eye on. It has been muted that the Sp could rocket to over 50p... It was suspended at 0.35p.

This all started happening only yesterday.

Keep an eye on TOM.
