Any chance of pinning the podcast thread?

Like the books thread - the podcast thread is an essential way in which gei posters can exchange media (audio) links on a wide variety of subjects; by having this thread pinned it provides a prominence where a lot of posters can easily find it and post any podcasts they have recently heard without having to look for it in the nether regions of gei.

If like me you are mobile for a lot of your working day, there simply isn't the time to read, whereas I have ample to time to listen.

I see that there are 3 x gold threads pinned now - not that I have a problem with that, but surely the podcasts thread deserves a place there as well?

just to add - i am using a nokia n71 with unlimited iternet access, so i download the podcasts on demand and play them through the speaker on my phone whilst driving, working etc.

point being - it has never been easier to listen to podcasts

Cool. I don't think my 6310i does that. laugh.gif

I find it much more appealing to listen to analysis than to read similar analysis. I use wireless headphones connected to my computer, so I can do stuff around the house while listening.

I haven't quite got the hang of the ipod, though I have been using itunes on my computer for yonks. I think I don't like wired headphones, and so that puts me off the ipod. Using a speaker in the phone instead sounds pretty good.

I am not to keen on wired headphones either (add to the fact this is not possible when driving). Using the speaker has been a bit of a revolution to me; I probably listen to about 20-25 hrs a week comprising of the following....

FSN (4hrs+) / Goodseek (1-2 hrs) / Howe st. (2-3 hrs - Dave Skarica is essential listening) / Corbett Report (1 hr) / Max keiser (90 mins NZ & London broadcasts) / King World News (2-3hrs) / Lew Rockwell (1hr) / McAlvany Report (1hr)

the rest of the time is spent listening to assorted material from Archive etc. and when I am really desperate I listen to discount gold and silver!

I can pin it in the Festival section.
We have too many pinned threads on Main now

Yours is a similar playlist to my own. You've got a few more in your rotation, which I will check out (lew rockwell, corbett report, mcAlvaney).

And I loves me some discount gold and silver! biggrin.gif

the corbett report may be TFH for some, but after a few listens it is clear that James Corbett is very diligent and overall this podcast focuses on things that I would otherwise not really come across anywhere else

Podcasts playing via the car speakers using AUX or MP3 inputs and if you want a set of wireless bluetooth headphones then buy a pair of these nokias. I got a pair as a birthday present and they are simply fantastic!

sennheiser do some really good headphones and Richer Sounds sell some selected @ a decent price

Never liked headphones much in the past but Senn's are great - very good bass for listening to music

Note if travelling on public transport you will need noise cancelling headphones else Londons tube frequently interrupts at the critical moment !

Forgive me for being a Luddite, but was source do the headphone run from? Your phone? My laptop has bluetooth but I have never used it.

edited to add: my wireless headphones are sennheiser and the sound is good. The fit isn't as good as I would like. I need a bigger head I guess. rolleyes.gif

These don't go fully round the ear they are more like very comfortable soft, lightweight pads that sit on top of the ear so ear size is not a problem. I use both my mobile and my laptop as a source over Bluetooth for MP3's. I also use them for phones calls in the office via the laptop and VOIP software, like Skype but through the company switchboard. I also use them on noisy sites for mobile calls as well as they have multiple noise cancelling mics and are better than a Jawbone for noise cancelling as both ears are covered although I will still use the Jawbone in the car as then I can hear other traffic, horns, sirens, etc

harvipark
I use an FM transmitter plugged into the smartphone to play it through the car radio

Works well for me

Thanks for explaining. They sound very versatile.

havipark -- I have one of those transmitters. Works a treat. I should use it for podcasts while I am driving.

Yep. It's funny, my Belkin precedes my ipod. I got it to use my laptop as a music server in a holiday let that had only a cd player-radio. I forgot the thing was developed for ipods!

I have always used mine when on the road and thats why i originally bought it

I have the smartphone stuck to the windscreen which is running Tom Tom all day and the podcasts are playing as well as the sat nav

The TT voice and podcasts all come through the radio so you dont have to wear earpices/headphones

Apart from having to change the batteries each day, the other problem is that you may have to retune the fm frequency at times as you move around the country. Some local radio stations may interfere with the frequency you are using

I have one that goes into the cigarette lighter. Also charges the iPod while playing.
