I see a lot of plastice industrial waste lying around. I am trying to think of things to make from this waste.

That isn't proving to be a problem....I have in fact been thinking of Green things eg garden eqipment such as wormeries, plant post, buckets. I am however finding a little difficulty in finding the company which makes the processes recycled plastic. Miller says that the company which supplied him was based in Stroud. I'll concentrate on that area. Anybody on here have any information about which company it might be or more generally, any experience of recycling? Any thoughts or ideas most welcome as I've never run let alone started a business before? Do you think there might be mieage is something like this.....well, Mr Miller I suppose has proved there is! Thanks.

"1996 Edward Douglas Miller began looking at ways of turning one everyday, throwaway item into a new, second-life item with a long lifespan. He started by researching plastic cups as a product which many offices use and throw away every day (in the UK, over 3.5 million plastic cups are collected for recycling each week). After two years of development, he was ready to launch the Remarkable PencilTM."

You need to realise that there are different grades of plastic, such as:

The plastic types were defined by the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI):

* Type 1 - PETE Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
Soda & water containers, some waterproof packaging.
* Type 2 - HDPE High-Density Polyethylene
Milk, detergent & oil bottles. Toys and plastic bags.
* Type 3 - V Vinyl/Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
Food wrap, vegetable oil bottles, blister packages.
* Type 4 - LDPE Low-Density Polyethylene
Many plastic bags. Shrink wrap, garment bags.
* Type 5 - PP Polypropylene
Refrigerated containers, some bags, most bottle tops,
some carpets, some food wrap.
* Type 6 - PS Polystyrene
Throwaway utensils, meat packing, protective packing.
* Type 7 - OTHER Usually layered or mixed plastic.
No recycling potential - must be landfilled.

Here's someone else with a similar idea

"Their P2 powder impression molding (PIM) machine, processes and sterilizes local mixed trash - which can even include elements of metal and wood - and fuses it all together to form a cellular foam core. This is then wrapped in an outer skin of recycled plastic.

The panels have numerous applications for the military and automotive sector and could be used as a strong, lightweight alternative to timber in construction or furniture. The panels can be colored and Protomax even reckons you could craft kayaks and surf boards out of the material."
