Who wins those Debates ?

Paul Leading D-Report Poll on Debate Success, page 1

Topic started on 24-1-2012 @ 08:43 AM by TomServo

I imagine a few of you may have watched the debate last night. I watched it with my far left wing wife, who gives me a hard time for supporting Paul, claiming 'He's un-electable'. But that's the only complaint she has about him. But when she listened to his responses last night (I had to force her to stop talking and listen), she ended up very pleasantly surprised.

Unlike the other 3, for the most part, Paul actually addressed the question. He did so cohesively, confidently, and logically. I got something else from his responses, that none of the others even came near to touching. As Paul made his points, I felt a swelling of excitement. I was greatly moved. Finally!! A candidate who focuses on the issues at hand rather than dabbling in mindless political BS! As the debate went on, I got the vision of a political cartoon, where Gingrich and Romney were off to the side, involved in their own separate debate, in which the read their responses from a pamphlet of their own credentials and shortcomings of the other. Then you have Santorum off to the other side having an respectable, but simple minded conversation, only it is with himself. Then you have Paul front 'n center, engaged in a top form, educated, rational debate, except only half the audience is paying him any attention. Unfortunately, the other half (the simple minded members of the audience) are distracted by the Rom-rich argument. And that's how politics go, sad to say.

So, the purpose of the thread... As i sat at my desk, and opened up drudgereport as I do every morning, I noticed the poll "Who Won the FL debate". Naturally, I voted. But was pleasantly surprised at the current results. They speak for themselves:
Well... apparently ATS Media has temporarily disabled media uploads. So Ill type the results:

Gingrich 25.9% (18049)
Paul---- 39.6% (27634)
Romney-- 25.0% (17445)
Santorum 9.5% (6611)

How bout that electability?! I firmly believe Paul has a large number of closet supporters, like I was until recently.

The "Cockroach" BEHIND the Push for Newt (happens to be Jewish*)

Posted By: afriend [Send E-Mail]
Date: Wednesday, 25-Jan-2012
Not a surprise really
===========

Before Newt Gingrich dominated the South Carolina primary, a so-called super PAC supporting him spent millions of dollars savaging Mitt Romney in negative ads and fliers.

A driving force behind that super PAC is Sheldon Adelson, a Las Vegas casino tycoon who has translated his deep friendship with Gingrich into a financial bonanza to buoy his candidacy. Adelson gave the PAC, Winning Our Future, $5 million just before the South Carolina primary, and this week, his wife gave the group another $5 million.

The Adelsons make Mitt Romney look like Tom Joad. Adelson, the eighth-richest American, is worth more than $20 billion. He built the iconic Venetian hotel (and another in Macao to match) and has given to a host of Jewish causes — in addition to funding a nonprofit group that led to Gingrich's presidential run.

Adelson met Gingrich when he was the speaker of the House, and they bonded over their dedication to support Israel as Congress debated passing a bill that would encourage the American Embassy in Tel Aviv to be moved to Jerusalem, the capital. Since then they've been friends, with obvious benefits.

"He admires and likes Newt for his intellect and his creativity, and those are two traits that are very strong with Sheldon himself," said Robert List, a former governor of Nevada who was Adelson's legal counsel when he acquired the historic Sands Hotel. "It's no surprise that he's liked Newt from the beginning."

http://news.yahoo.co...--abc-news.html

So typical, the last line in the story, letting it be known that if he cannot totally influence the nomination,he will be happy to influence as much as he can if Romney gets the Nod. QUESTION Mr Adelson, where does Mr Ron Paul enter the equation in your f*cked up scheme of things? Take care all

Notorious Market Timer Joe Granville Predicts A 50% Plunge

Gus Lubin|January 24, 2012|

Notorious market timer Joe Granville predicted a 50% market plunge yesterday on Bloomberg Television:

Joseph Granville, whose “sell everything” call in 1981 sparked a decline in U.S. stocks, said the Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU) will drop toward 8,000 this year because of waning momentum and volume.

“Volume precedes prices,” Granville, 88, a technical analyst who has been publishing the Granville Market Letter from Kansas City, Missouri for about 50 years, said in an interview on “Street Smart” on Bloomberg Television. “You are seeing much lower volume. That tells you that prices are going to go much lower, much lower than most people think possible and very few people have projected.”

Replace jewish with christian, or black, islamic, immigrant, lesbian, gay, fat, bald, right-wing, left-wing, rich, poor, foreigner or whatever you like, but when you try to link one person with a group, race, type etc etc, you are playing right into the extremists hands.

In times of trouble and difficulties, it is quite usual for opportunists to start blaming “the other” for their troubles, usually in order to win power and influence that they could never dream of in normal times.

I thought you of all people would know this <_< .

There have recently been several threads moving in a very worrying direction here, allowing extreme views to go unchallenged. It is a road to nowhere and I hope it soon moves back to how it was.

Words of sense about "war-making nation", America:

Paul's Foreign Policy Against America as being a Warrior Nation!

Posted by Charleston Voice .. 01/27/2012

This is remarkable. We were truly astonished to hear these words of praise of Ron Paul from Phil Donahue.

Millions of the liberal persuasion hang on Donahue's every word.....the anti-war activists on the Left for instance. Keep it up Dr. Paul, we KNOW you are the only candidate to beat Obama by capturing his base! Liberals ask Why Ron Paul? Read that link for the answer to that question. Watch your back Obama there's gonna be a new family in the White House!

In a word yes. Seen a number of posts on this site that I can imagine would have gone down well with certain sections of the third reich. Don't get me wrong, I dont think the US giving complete blind support to Israel helps the world, and hence i liked it when Obama stood up to Netanyahu, but don't like to see overtones of antisemitism creeping in on GEI.

Anti-Zionism has some basis for discussion IMHO.

But I do not want to encourage anti-Jewish discussion here. Frankly, I think this is a critical distinction, which the word "anti-semitism" obscures.

"F the F-ers"?
Well Romney did. He pulled the trigger on the Grinch.
And it looks like he will waltz to victory in Florida

Since Friday morning, the Romney campaign has been beaming an unusual 30-second spot into media markets across the state of Florida. It consists almost exclusively of a vintage video clip from Jan. 21, 1997, the day Newt Gingrich was sanctioned by his House colleagues after an ethics investigation.

What makes the ad striking is the content: NBC Nightly News anchor (at the time) Tom Brokaw, is introducing his network's report that evening on Newt's downfall earlier in the day. That's all there is, and the video bite is perfectly sized for a political ad. (Watch the video below.)

The Romney researcher who discovered the clip must have done handsprings to discover the bonus at the end: Brokaw's kicker--raising questions about Gingrich's "future effectiveness"--seems eerily prescient, even viewed 15 years later

The end of the road for Newt Gingrich?

By Dana Milbank, Tuesday, January 31, 9:17 AM

It’s hard to know what the most pitiful part was: That a presidential candidate was whiling away the night at a hotel bar (it was his second visit to the journalists’ table that evening)? That he felt the need to do his own spinning? That the survey he was spinning was a “robo-poll” done by machines? Or that the pollster who did it used to work for Gingrich?

Posted Image

In fact, real polls were showing the opposite — a new Quinnipiac poll had Mitt Romney with a 14-point lead over Gingrich in Florida. If such a drubbing occurs in the state’s primary on Tuesday, that would, for all intents and purposes, end Gingrich’s campaign. But Gingrich is going down in his own style, leaving fabrications, insults and scorched earth all the way from Miami to Pensacola.

During the course of the day Monday, he erroneously announced a “brand new poll” showing the race tied, falsely implied that Nancy Reagan had endorsed him as the sole heir to her husband’s movement, and canceled a news conference because, his spokesman said, he was “mad at the press.”

He made religion-baiting references to his Mormon opponent at two stops, accusing Romney of discriminating against Catholics and Jews. “I think we need to have a government that respects our religions,” Gingrich declared at a rally in Tampa. “I’m really tired of being lectured about respecting every other religion on the planet. I want them to respect our religions.”

So the United States now has official religions?
. . .
But Gingrich is losing people power. As crowds thin and poll numbers drop, the press corps following him has begun to dissolve. As he took off Monday on his campaign plane — a 737 supposedly used by the Miami Heat and operated by Moby Dick Airways — he was without a media contingent. After reporters refused to shell out more than $2,000 apiece over the weekend to fly on the Gingrich plane for a single event, the campaign punished them by canceling press charters.

Florida Victory Speech - Romney's on the Mark

In his State of the Union Address, the President actually said, “Let’s remember how we got here.” Don’t worry, Mr. President, we remember exactly how we got here! You won the election!

Leadership is about taking responsibility, not making excuses. In another era of American crisis, Thomas Paine is reported to have said, “Lead, follow, or get out of the way.” Mr. President, you were elected to lead, you chose to follow, and now it’s time for you to get out of the way!

I stand ready to lead this Party and our nation. As a man who has spent his life outside Washington, I know what it is like to start a business. I know how extraordinarily difficult it is to build something from nothing. I know how government kills jobs and, yes, how it can help.

My leadership helped build businesses from scratch. My leadership helped save the Olympics from scandal and give our athletes the chance to make us all proud. My leadership cut taxes 19 times and cast over 800 vetoes. We balanced every budget, and we kept our schools first among fifty states. My leadership will end the Obama era and begin a new era of American prosperity!

This campaign is about more than replacing a President. It is about saving the soul of America. President Obama and I have two very different visions of America.

President Obama wants to grow government and continue to amass trillion dollar deficits. I will not just slow the growth of government, I will cut it. I will not just freeze government’s share of the total economy, I will reduce it. And, without raising taxes, I will finally balance the budget.

President Obama’s view of capitalism is to send your money to his friends’ companies. My vision for free enterprise is to return entrepreneurship to the genius and creativity of the American people.

On one of the most personal matters of our lives, our health care, President Obama would turn decision making over to government bureaucrats. He forced through Obamacare; I will repeal it.

I have only just discovered this discussion, and I agree the direction that is creeping in here is very worrying indeed.

Being firstly German and having secondly read one or two books about the subject of the 3rd Reich (latest I read has been the excellent Hitler biography by Ian Kershaw) I can't but notice the parallels between then and here recently, i.e. blaming a big global conspiracy. Hitler blamed a global Jewish conspiracy for everything (the lost war, German hyperinflation, the Great depression etc.), and within a few years everybody was at each other throats and there was the holocaust!

In that sense one has to give the current political elite a little bit of credit: at least they are not falling into the trap of using belligerent language at each other. In fact, they are largely cooperating quite well indeed, compared to 80 years ago!

The site with its aspiration to be 'global edge' should not fall into the same psychological traps!

On reading it again, I can see how you might see it offensive,
so I have changed the original posting to more reflect my own intention:

The "Cockroach" BEHIND the Push for Newt (happens to be Jewish*)

The original title on the article itself was:
The Cockroach BEHIND the Push for Newt
I now prefer to identify the Jewish connection in a slightly less offensive way.

The potential Zionism of Adelson is worrying, but his is proud of being Jewish,
and calls himself "the richest Jew in the world." Could that be true?
Jews supporting Israel, and those who are friendly to Israel is not surprising, but if they also support Zionist extremists (as Adelson done this), then it would be worrying if he becomes one of the largest backers of an ambitious man hoping to be our next president.

Joe Arpaio: Barack Obama birth proof 'may be forged'

The birth certificate of US President Barack Obama could well be a forgery, a high-profile Arizona sheriff has said.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County - who styles himself as America's toughest - unveiled the results of a probe into the origins of the document.

His investigators found "probable cause" the certificate may have been made by "forgery and fraud", he said.

There is no evidence whatsoever that any of the birther conspiracy theories are right. Do you think the newspaper announcements of Obama's birth from the 1960s are part of the same plot? A plot which would have to have been begun more than 40 years ago?

This is one more conspiracy theory that doesn't make a lick of sense and is baseless.
