Apom posted something interesting, and I wanted to post this on his thread

EXCERPT from his posting:
QUOTE
So should I ...
1: Start taking life a lot more seriously..?
2: Start Taking life a lot less seriously..?

This got me to thinking..
I think I am going to resign my job, bug**r of to London IT contracting..
(*I still do have enough contacts to ensure success there..)
work for as long as they will have me..
Save some cash, have some fun..

and then of to america.. and slow across it on a harley..
a big one with tassels..
Good plan?

(but the thread was CLOSED for some reason ??)

So I thought, why not start a NEW thread on this topic.

HAVE PEOPLE on HPC become too-House obsessed?

I believe it is far too late in the property cycle to risk investing in Uk Property. Despite all the headlines aboutrprices rising again in London etc., when you take into consideration the costs of buying and selling, and the costs of holding, I would argue that it was near-impossible to buy property any time since mid-2004, and sell it, and walk away with a decent profit. Do you know ANYONE who has done that? If so, i would like to hear the story.

So let's focus on OTHER ways of making money

LOL.
I always thought of him as "the bread man", and he got upset for calling him that once.

It was a classic case of "failure of sense of humor." It wasn't like I was calling him rubbish. In fact, I thought he might have chosen that name intentionally since Bread = Money in some slang.

Maybe a truck driver WOULD get offended by such a thing.

He may claim to drive a desk, but we know he drives a truck. He also suffers from smelly feet and less than impressive mountains.
