oh, and in terms of weapons..........

I get the feeling that you'll be carrying more than Neo as he walks through the metal detector in the first Matrix -

That's a fantastic list, not sure what sort of enviroment you are preparing for but if you've got a hand Axe, Knife, Scissors etc..... shouldn't a sharpening stone also be considered ?

How would any of you guys cope with disruptions to essential utility services?

Say, electricity/gas shortages or rationing, etc.

How are you going to manage for heating and cooking food?

And also, lets say that a financial armageddon occurred, and there was food rationing and hyperinflation... so you've got to keep your stockpiles of food a secret.... and then you're out in the garden with your BBQ's grilling steak!! Lol, might that not arouse suspicion from any onlookers?

Not a complete answer but useful link for certain back up power supplies and essentials.

Given the likelihood of power failures in the future, all relevant without the need for conjuring up doomsday scenario's.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but there is a rather good podcast just for this.

Jack is quite good, gets gold and silver but says there is more to life and one should not just hide under a rock. I have listened to a selected few and forwardwind any relating to hairy US deer hunters and guns n ammo!

+ a link to one of his recommended firms - clever storage systems - not just for survivalists (or preppers as he likes to call them)

The bigest difficulty in having emergency supplies, is remembering to rotate stock, particularly if you do not visit said store frequently.

Besides the need to replenish, it tends to bring on a quick gorge of past sell by dated foodstuffs! Cue smiley for exploding stomach

Can he show me how to fix the MP3 download? My fault don't look in much these days. Plenty of productive stuff to do outside, too much doom in here.
