Uranium: Price is booming

Recommended Posts

I had dinner this evening with a friend visiting HK for two days.

He's a senior guy in one of the larger Uranium exploration companies.

His view is that there is no supply crunch coming in the next two years. But sometime after that, in 3-5 years time, there is likely to be a big supply squeeze as utilities with new projects underway start competing with each other to lock-in long term supply.

If the squeeze comes earlier, he thinks it will be due to "security issues", as buyers in places like Japan or Korea decide that they do not want to be too dependent on countries like the US (which may impose export restrictions, or "higher risk countries" like Kazakhstan, or South Africa.

Interesting points.

USU, UEC, URG, URZ, DNN, URRE, A9Y and CCJ. Plus URA ETF why?

I was just looking for some perspective on your post - apologies for missing your earlier post where you mentioned these.. If I recall correctly, the past week was good for most, if not all of these stocks!

I like Denison even though I don't own the stock. It has a good quality resource. It'll be worth a lot more in 3 years..

Bought some FTE as they dipped below recent placing price yesterday. In fact have fallen back a good distance from recent highs. Managed to grab 2 lots sub 7p. Now have funds in place to prove up Jorc resource later this year. Discount was only 10% off the share price at the time of fund raising.

Opted for these as can be held in an ISA

Just sold virtually all my uranium stocks for obvious reasons. Might invest in coal now........They had not performed really and it was a ot of money for me and I could not just let it ride. Really thought I will try some junior PM miners instead.

Thought FTE were going well, had managed to bank half as a cushion against a fall back, just as well since the slide the last 2 days wiped me out on the rest, (Closed at 6.7p on Fri).

Also think time to leave Uranium stocks alone for awhile.

I'm starting to salivate at the sight of Uranium producer prices now. UUU at 1.94, Cameco at $18....

Still waiting for an entry point.

Always the trouble waiting for an entry point. Did the same watching GF's HAT tip, smart move that one. Still waiting with slight look of envy.

Keep looking at this sector.

Hmm FTE news. Someone doesn't know how to keep secrets me thinks. Lets see 2.1p a mere 2 trading days back last week, closing at 3p friday; to release this and peak around 3.4's on the bid today.

Forte Energy (ASX: FTE) has received initial assays from a recent 10,000 metre reverse circulation drilling program at the A238 Prospect in Mauritania which confirm mineralised extensions to the northwest of the prospect and at depth below the existing uranium Resource.

One to look out for on volume and further mini spikes ;)

“We’ve been talking about a nuclear renaissance for years now and this is the first tangible sign that we are going to proceed in a meaningful way,” said Johnson, who is also chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute, a trade organization.

If the world is serious about future energy provision, assuming they are really worried by global warming (whether it is man-made or not) or, more likely perhaps, peak oil etc, then, for the moment, fission is the only realistic choice.

As such, the number of countries that will end up doing the same will, likely, increase.

U308 (which I hold) has doubled recently. But they'd have to double again just to get where they were 1 year ago.

Noticed this article on the FTE thread (which a had a good day without news - heavily ramped though)

Close in London following the N.R in Oz suggests a bit more than b.b gossip lurking round the corner.

Heavy trade at close for FTE saw shares near 50% up on y.t.d(though spread can be wide) and double to mid Dec - obvious expectation of something about to happen. These had fell a long way!

Bizarre! FTE had yet another high volume day on AIM to finish at 2.4p, yet still suspended on ASX

On 5th Feb the company "advised that advanced negotiations are continuing on a number of different transactions", yet the lightly regulated AIM list allows trading to continue, with shares slowly breaking out - lurching all over last 3 days!

Something brewing as per ASX disclosure, but the AIM trading just reinforces the differnce in exchanges.

Oh well guess it will allow someone a position one way orr the other.

P.S I do hold, hence the interest ;)

Hmm.... move on 11th Feb ASX and AIM release on the ASX Trading halt and "The Company advises that negotiations are continuing in relation to a potentially significant transaction..."

Now a cynic might also think there is an element of teasing the AIM price higher, surely not to get a placing away? On the other hand it could be one final piece of whatever significant news remains to be completed that will transform the company.

Have to say the dual list difference intrigues me here.
